coey Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 hi all. 2 of my cocks have had a bit of a fight and one of their heads has had the skin peeled back, so you can see its skull. will it be ok? or do i need to do anything to it? thanks anthony.

DOVEScot Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 hi all. 2 of my cocks have had a bit of a fight and one of their heads has had the skin peeled back, so you can see its skull. will it be ok? or do i need to do anything to it? thanks anthony. It's amazing how a pigeon recovers, we use a spray called Carr's natural improvers, first aid for birds. really is good look at before and after hawk pics. Isolate and preferably a darkened place to keep it calm.
retired Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 PIGEONS ARE GREAT HEALERS M8 SO DONT PANIC PUT SOME WHERE SAFE IT WILL RECOVER very true have seen pigeons come around from some bad injuries
chickadee Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 very true have seen pigeons come around from some bad injuries Yes as dovescot says we've had a hawk attack recently and bird was a right mess had a hole under its wing, but its made a full recovery and is flying again although she wants to stay in the hut more these days, and who could blame her.
just ask me Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 if its a old cock hell be allright probally his pride hurt more lock the two cock in there boxes and leave them out different times it will take the hurt cock a bit of time to get his confidence back but once he wins the first fight again hell be ok if u want in a weeks time or so take a cock from a different loft and throw him in his box and leave your hurt cock win the fight pull him out by the tail and ull see him coming back to life hope this helps
crazy pigeon boy Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 yes mate the bird will be fine as every one has said they are great healers put it in a box on it's own put some anticeptic cream or tcp on the wound and leave it within a week you will see a difference i have also heard of people putting plain flour on the wound to dry it up and help it to heal quicker
coey Posted November 29, 2007 Author Report Posted November 29, 2007 thanks alot. i feel better now ;D. thought i might of had to get rid of him ??)
Guest Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 Spray the wound each day with Savlon, this also helps to keep the wound clean and allows a slightly quicker healing period!
chichichi Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 we use TCP.. keep the infection away and you will have no probs,,, had a bird come home twice last season with holes in his chest , took a bit of time but 100% now,, infection is the killer not the wound,, goodluck,,
Guest Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 There is an thread on honey on Natural Remedies which makes me ask here : has anyone used honey to seal and heal an open wound of the type this bird has?
Guest Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 To be honest any birds we have had in the past that had large wounds or been scalped we use wound powder then put stiches in the bird if needed followed by some savlon creme,..... always been fine so far
