Hi all ,

look guys you can take your case to the queen or the high court, its still gonna happen, and to be honest i agree we should be taxed on it. !! why ?

because pigeon fanciers in this country breed far to many rubbish pigeons from to many rubbish pigeons , therefore losing loads of what they breed. which adds to the growing problem of feral or wild pigeons hanging around and shitting all over the building in certain areas. which then means the local councils have to pay out for them to be exterminated and preventative measures being taken, and now they want us the pigeon hobbiest to start being resposible for adding to the problem, and shoulder some costs for which we in the past have never done.. well done the government about time to.

And you can all think of it in a negative way or just turn it around in your favour? how ? by merging all this poor little clubs that send no more than 5 or 6 members a week . so cost would then come down individually !! and if you say ...well i will pack it in and not race anymore!! fine do that , just dont bang your gums over and over again.. moaning. work it to the hobby's advantage !!!

I agree with the TAX .. we are getting of lightly , and the RPRA should have done something years ago and it would not have come to this .. but they sit on their arses taking your money and doing nowt.   we have ourselves to blame so put ou or shut up guys.!!

wish you all the best spencer

your opinion and free speech? well as you put it like that then thats good  :-/ because then when your club merges with a club 60 miles away we won't hear you complain,  if we let the GOV get away with this without a fight, then it just shows how easy you can be pushed around. Then next there want every pigeon fancier going down town to catch the strays and faral, to return them to the rightfull owner. but bearing in mind that we had a council tax increasement so the council do this?  and it would not go back down, ie the dustmans wages went up so we pay more council tax, then we have to do the dustmans job and take the bags to the street. :-/ and we didn't get a tax reduction for this.

so you might shut up and put up, but i won't go down with out a fight

there is fighting for your right i know, but ask yourself this , where is the RPRA in all this, they have legal representation , why not let them fight our corner as they are our governing body? well they wont and do you know why? because they are a cowboy outfit with primative ideas and where have they taken the sport forward??? we have an image of flat caps and old men.... well we painted that image and have never painted another one since, so we have only ourselves to blame. look at Kieth Mott on the news, he didnt even have an answer at one point !!! god and this is the best we as a nation and supposed sport can do to defend ourselves... good job I was not next to him in a trence.

it will happen and no matter how much gum banging you do, we as a fancy walked straight into it.. made our bed ,now were asked to lay in it.. and we will . trust you , me.

so if you dont want to pay the taxes , get yourself off to the forest and live with robin hood, flt caps and green tights , nice combo!!!! ;D

A MANIC MONDAY The office was thrown into confusion on Monday this week with the news that a pigeon club in Northumberland had been told to pay   business rates on its basket store.  Lots of news stories suddenlty appeared out of TV and radio and we received literally dozens of calls from national and regional media wanting a local spin on things.  Was it a problem?  Why aren’t you a spotrt anymore? (as was incorrectly reported).  The truth of the matter is that pigeon racing is not classed as a sport.  Many representations  to various bodies have been made over the years, the most recent only a few months ago by none other than Gerry Francis who went to see Sport UK to try to get us recognised as a sport.  Gerry tells me that he wasn’t in their offices for more than 10 minutes and he basically wasted his time, they weren’t interested.  He has however managed to get us recognised with the CCPR, the next best thing, and this organisation may be able to assist us in our goal for sport recognition.  The reason we are told we are not a sport is because it is the pigeon that does the racing and exertion, not the fancier.

If the clubs are to be taxed as a business, then all members of the clubs will then have to become partners in the business and will be responsible for sharing all profits and losses made. If the clubs are run in such a way that they make a loss of the amount the new taxes are then all members will be able to claim this money back against their personal tax. Personally, I dont think we need worry too much.

the RPRA need to fight in our corner, but they also need backing from all its members, and if some members lay down and take it,  then why sould they fight it? we need to be united.

so chuck your flat cap away, ;D and stand up and be counted.

change only happens when you want it too :)
