think they are to stimulate the bird's or have a calming effect . not sure , lost the write up on them , looking for a bit of info on this one..

used a red light  many years ago for the xmas race ,, with 3 hens in one loft also a mild heater    was 3d winning £800  ;D ;D    [but this was these hens only race ]

Bilco's posted on the subject,  the gist is - with the red lights in the loft you can study the birds any evening (when dark) you can see them but they cannot see you. Invaluable when checking out how your birds behave after "lights out"

with the w,hood cocks fair play,, i used to have an old security camera in the loft fitted to a monitor in the kitchen [folk thought i was mad ,,,dont answer that ;D ;Dbut would sit and look at it for hours during their lockup period between 7 and 5pm ,,itwas truly amazing what i learnt about my own birds,,and often managed to pick a pooler through this ,,some cocks were absolutely calm [these were the best [some, i thought were calm , were in fact bullies in the loft , these birds were used in other ways ] but really amazing what i learnt about my own birds

seems a good idea through if it allows you to look at the birds in the winter with out shining a torch about all the time which can lead tro fretmarks etc

i bought a silver generator from dazer dont think it made any diffrence

so now i have it lying about  the thing cost £50

but i fall for all sorts even bought pigeons from tammy once

Well we all learn by our mistakes  when making purchases off strangers or off well publicised advertisements, i also have the colloidal silver generator, luckily i got mine secondhand because i also feel it is utterly useless and so therefore did not lose out so much.
