retired Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I started out with a 8x6 shed that was salvaged from a property my brother bought, It was rotten, leaked and was generally a sh** tip like those huts you see in the third world as bent as two bob nails. If the shes was not bad enough for the first 5 months my 16 birds i was gifted lived with a pair of pheasants, four rabbits and some white doves however i gradually started putting a bit away each week and bought an 8x6 from stoneys and have now through saving in a low paid job and 50% from my father got the loft in the members picture section all through hard work and treating people right as this encouraged the help when i needed it my loft i have now was built by a friend at cost plus a bit extra for time. Not a rags to riches story i admit but not too far off - And remember those that helped you three people realy got me going in the sport and these years later i still apprecaite them. P.s when i started saving for the stoneys loft it was £300.00 and i earnt through my paperound £12.50 per week In the words of the Adidas marketing campaign IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING!
DOVEScot Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Our first loft on this property was, what was meant to be a dog run. just put a roof over it and put some hutches on the back wall, now Chickadee wants a third loft built :'( :'( :'(

Guest Paulo Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 A good loft costs nowt if you shop around I brought all the timber for mine for 40 pounds at a farm sale. If your shop around you can start it doesn't all have to be done at once. I will help you out with a pair of YB's

Guest Paulo Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Heres a link to my setup all together it cost me with the paint and building materials about 500 quid the price some people will spend on a pigeon. You cna buy decent second hand sheds and do them up I admit I'm lucky enough to work in the building trade but you still just have to shop around http://www.pigeonbasics.com/forum/blah/m-1197279121/s-13/#num13
