Guest karl adams Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 i have 4 strains of pigeons they are staf van reets busschaerts soontjens wildermeersch what would be the best way to cross them
Roland Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Male to Female... they are pigeons foremost and always. Busschaerts will x with any ... I'd go with the wildermeersch. Then cros the the youngster, then cross the other starins next season... Takes 2/3 years to really know tresults, so pays to have a little side bet. Then just keep the best youngsters, the ones bred them and bring in some new faces to cross again. ... if you intend to race them that is. Different of course if pets or keeping the blood.... Good Luck
PIGEON_MAN Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Forget what strain they are Karl and just pair them up to what you think each one is most suited to,i,m sure you wont go far wrong.
Guest dogeon Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 i would x the svr with wildermerch for sprint and the busshart with the soontjen for middle
Guest karl adams Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 i have young off them all now they are pure and want to have a round of crosses for racing then i can get rid of most of my stock as i donot like keeping them locked up
Guest karl adams Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 thank you dogeon i will try the ways you said
Guest shadow Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 try love matches and let pair as they want to you could be surprised at the outcome
p charlton Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 you should breed pigeons to breed the best racers or breeders not to get pure breeds the is no such thing as a pure breed pigeons ie busschaerts and wildcermeetsch and pigeons from every were ie they had pigeons from jannson plus other famus flyers
Roland Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 you should breed pigeons to breed the best racers or breeders not to get pure breeds the is no such thing as a pure breed pigeons ie busschaerts and wildcermeetsch and pigeons from every were ie they had pigeons from jannson plus other famus flyers Agree .... though Busscheart first were off Delbar ...
p charlton Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Agree .... though Busscheart first were off Delbar ... yeh i know i rember years back seing a sale in the homing world the were about 10 diffrent strans in the busschearts
schouwman71 Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 id go busscheart x wildermerch and van reet sootjen, busscheart and wildermerch travel far back to the theo guilbert lines or the dark ones do anyway, van reet and sootjen were swapping birds many years ago.
jimmy white Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 try love matches and let pair as they want to you could be surprised at the outcome i agree with this,, have done it, and been pleasantly surprised
Merlin Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 It appears Karl has already got them mated, round of youngsters proof of that, type to type is what I would be doing, handle them often, you wont be long in matching them, and very often your best racers are to be found in these first crosses, with the vigor being introduced with opposing bloodlines,I would recommend handling your birds at every chance, this and some peanuts will give them no fear of you.
Guest karl adams Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 i have paired them type to type and got young but im now looking to cross some of them as i was told a crossed young bird makes a better racer
