DAVIDL Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 can anyone tell me how to cut the clear corrugated plastic sheets please.tried with hack saw and it wouldnt cut in a straight line, then stupidly tried wood saw and it just smashed to pieces.any advise please??? :'(
bewted Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 clamp two lenghts of wood along your cut (not too tight)and use a small tooth wood saw and go gently and not rush it !!!!! hope that helps you !!!
Leroy Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 I've done exactly the same thing - twice! If you only have the hacksaw....score along the line you need to saw, then saw each bump in the sheet individually from one side, then when done, turn it over and do the same again making sure you line up the cuts made from the reverse. It's fiddly and takes a while but it can be done

Guest shadow Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 can be cut using a jigsaw witha metal cutting blade on slow speed or with a plastic cutting blade

NANCYVIEWLOFTS Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 yes a grinder will do the job but if you aint got one you could use a stanley knife but be carefull
DAVIDL Posted January 25, 2008 Author Report Posted January 25, 2008 thanks everyone for your advise, what sort of blade do i use with a grinder to cut the plastic?
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 thanks everyone for your advise, what sort of blade do i use with a grinder to cut the plastic? the one for cutting metal is best as it is the thinnest , but an ordinary one for grinding or polishing will do just the same.
Guest Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Two layers of wide masking tape either side of sheet with cutting line down centre of tape then either fine tooth wood saw or old worn wood saw works
Guest Vic Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Surely you dont have to be a Whiz Kid to sort this one out. After 55 years in the building game, it's got to be a whizzer. Make it more supple with boiling water if need be.
