Guest cloudview Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 had pigeons since i was 8 years old started with fantails kept and raced them in1967 im now 57 ,so ive done my fair share of cleaning out
Hogni Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 I started racing in 1995 at the age of 15, managed to get 6th in a hard first race (1st in club), still don´t know how that happened but it still makes me smile when i think about the faces of all those experienced fliers when the race sheet came out.
jimmy_bulger Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 bred me 1st yb in 1969 and raced me 1st birds 1974 (i thought) as a boy this is easy, well you live and learn. and sod me i am still learning to this day. but isn't this the joy of the game. jimmy
Guest Vic Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 My brother John, and I, had pigeons on our own in 1947. I was 9 at the time. He still rings me from Oz, and always asks about the "micks". How about this? In the sixties, I attended a sale of a North Liverpool fancier who was selling up before emigrating to Oz. When this guy arrived in Melbourne, he happened to be in the same restaurant as my brother, and hearing his Scouse accent, "pulled his chair over" He said to our kid:- " You remind me of someone that flys pigeons in Liverpool,". No prizes for guessing who it was. Amazing! Yes, it's a small world indeed. ;D

I am still an avid reader of the BHW, and have been buying it, since my early days. It was about two and a half pence at the time, There have been some changes throughout the yeras. But dont you think it's getting worse by the allowance of prior fanfairs, before some of the big sales. 3 full pages in some cases for nothing! If he can tell if a bag is 15% short of of the limit sitting in a car. > > > > What's this guy like. He must think that most of us are only 85% or less with it. How he gets away with it I'll never know. > > >
