wings Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 Hi everyone i'am looking for some advice please ref ETS i'am a member of the NWHU who i think frown on the ETS system. all members in my club either don't have it or are reluctent to have it. My question is, is it possible for me to be the only person in the Club with ETS and still compete. And if so what would be the pitfalls. I appreciate that there have probably aready been threads on this but could some one please advice. Many thanks WINGS
Guest spin cycle Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 interesting question and one that is going to be asked alot up and down the country. the problem could be your officers refusing to opperate it,in which case you would have to get 'heavy' on the rules ( making club life awkward). i'm guessing that individuals are not allowed to set their own ets. ets could be the norm in a few years,is it worth strife at the club for a little patience?
hicky Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 as long as markers say thay are not happy setting ets clocks you can not use it

The problem is that i'am going to spend a lot of time away from home inthe next 12 months and i am trying to make life a easy as possible for the wife and the young lad so that i can keepthe birds. other wise i would be patient and wait, there is nothing i like better than watching the birdscome home at weekend and timing them in.

Guest spin cycle Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 as long as markers say thay are not happy setting ets clocks you can not use it after this agm i wouldn't be to sure.with the new 'wording' the inference is 'you take the job you accept ets' i hope i'm wrong

pjc Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 Wings, if your club are not prepared to accept it and don't have the equiptment to opporate it then there is nothing you can do. My sugestion would be use the club for training, clocking when you are there and send to the nationals where you can use ETS. This way your efforts will not be wasted and in 12months time your club may have changed there mind! Phil
pjc Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 I was just makeing a sugestion to help wings to race this season. I can't see the price comeing down, we held back on T3's in hope the price would come down but it hasn't. When people found a cheaper source, i.e import the importers wouldn't service and repair them then got the RPRA backing. Thats another story! PHil

Phil Sounds like good advice, but could i buy the approprate equipment, i suppose i should put it to the club and see what they say. problem is some of the older generartion don't seem to like change and who can blame them, i just feel we will have to move with times sooner rather than later, and my situation at the moment is pushing me to the sooner.
JADE Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 If as I understand you are a NWHU member only you will be wasting your money as i think they voted against allowing members to use ETS
wings Posted March 3, 2008 Author Report Posted March 3, 2008 If as I understand you are a NWHU member only you will be wasting your money as i think they voted against allowing members to use ETS Oh well if thats the case then hope the wife can make it work, i might have to look at only doing national races then, thanks for the reply.
THE FIFER Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 I often wondered why so many were against ETS, myself included, but now I have seen it in use and now my club has them I would'nt be without it, its a lot easier for marking and taking off also doing the birds good not getting caught everytime they drop in from a race, you know when all your birds arrive and what ones are still to com, you get a printout of your birds after basketting, and a printout of our birds timed and now with the velocities on each bird, yes its great,
wings Posted March 3, 2008 Author Report Posted March 3, 2008 Sounds like all good things to say about ETS i hope the NWHU allows it soon.
THE FIFER Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 Sounds like all good things to say about ETS i hope the NWHU allows it soon. I think once an organisation see it working in other organisations they will have a different view,
chubs Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 Say your club does allow it , how much is it to get set up with ets? sorry if we're going over old ground but having to work some saturdays this is something that could really help me.

Chubs i'am going to a presentation in blackpool on sunday don't know were though as a friend is taking me, will let you know on this thread if i get any info worth putting down.
chubs Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 thanks, bang it on this thread when you find out then pal, not saying i'm gonna do it but it's deffo something that interests me a lot, like the idea of having the stats recorded & something i'm guessing that would be a real bonus would be knowing the stats on each pigeon when you've done training tosses, must be a real help sorting where the best lie.
