This has alway been a touchy subject. I have always thought these appointments should come from within.

Gorden brown being leader while not belonging to the labour party.

Now some could rightfully argue this would be a great thing.

However no one knows our troubles, and how to take us forward, than our own.

Good hunting

happy days

in my opinion , to do this job, would take an exceptionaly learned mind , a pigeon fancier, a youngish chap with a very shrewed and a fast thinker totally dedicated to the job , not to say stu willcox would not  fit the bill

the boy or girl , that take's this job on , have got their work cut out for them ,

and as other's have stated they need a PR team to back them up , and i would like to see a young captain at the helm

I am not questioning his skills at PR but i think there is plenty of work to be carried out as General Manager for whoever takes on the job and I feel that there should be a separate job for a PR officer to the RPRA whos job is solely as PR officer and it should be someone who has skills at that job who knows how to pick up anything that would benefit the sport and to publicise it and by that i dont mean in the fancy press for pigeon fanciers i mean for the general public in their language and in a way that makes them take notice of what we do say

I think this is more a Public Relations question than Press Release question, any commitee has to have good public relations or they won't last a minute in the public eye, which is what we all are at the end of the day, just Joe Public fighting your own corner :-/

Think you have probably nearly just agreed with me there dovescot  ;D  we know how a lot of the public view pigeons and thats why we need a good PR man to change that attitude

Probably nearly ;D

PR; Public relations is a skill we all need, Press release is a different job all together :-/

I think the RPRA will be looking for an administrator/secretary and not a manager as we define. Peter Bryants job isnt to steer the ship, but keep the engines going.

The changes that Stuart put up in the first post would have to come through region and then council, who are the captains of the RPRA ship.

Completely agree that a PR person is needed; to keep on the ship analogy, the captains (council) go nowhere without Peter (keeping the engines going), but equally the whole lot stops unless someone brings in some fuel ;D

For what it's worth; I think the PR person should be an office with responsibilities to all of the unions in the UK; RPRA, SHU, NEHU... we should be all working in the same direction on PR. Why not make it a post offered by the Confederation?
