My reply has solely to do with a breeder sending birds to a one loft and doing well !!!

We sold birds to a guy in Texas once that hadnt won a race in 12 years and the next year he wins 4 or 5 races including auction race and wins overall average speed when asked for an endorsment he explained that he was sure his old mexico Jannsens had done it for him and that he had sped our birds up enough to make them competitive

another guy we sold birds to pulled the heads off of all of them because they hadnt produced anything worth a crap yet the next year he won everything there was to win in his club after never having done any good

GOOD JOB TIMBARRA a guy in a mini cooper dosent win formula 1 no matter how good a driver he is !!!

I think your pigeons Slugmonkey need no validation, congratulations on putting other lofts at the top of their repected competions.  A proud achievement I would only agree with.

You know your pigeons and proceed in supplying other top bloodlines to improve others results again well done!!!

You obviously have the Formula 1 bloodlines !!

so many have mini cooper but as long as they are happy, all the best SM.

we can agree to disagree rose, glad you have been fortunate with your pigeons, but i never seen a donkey win a national, only local beach races.

but i respect your view girlie..  :K)

I dont think it matters what you pay, you can be given quality gift birds as easy as paying big money for quality birds.

The NRCC Kings cup this winner was purchased from massarella as a £99 for six and ultimatly it won the biggest race there is on the North road.

The NRCC Saxa Vord winner in 1998 flyying i beleive 568 miles on the day was bred from gift pigeons .

Sure there is many more examples people could give i am just giving the two i can remember of the top of my head.

I dont disagee sometimes it does pay to go and buy the best but certainly not in all cases

The simple reality is that the 'Managerment made the pigeon what it is ...  but then only able to limited improvement. So the better the fancier and better the pigeon... but is he only as good as the pigeon allows him to be... Of course!

Fortunate enough to have been gifted some good pigeons from top fanciers   You make a good point though about not winning a national only a local race there are plenty of 1st displayed that are just that

Hi rose, its good if top fanciers let you have some good birds, i can only comment on my own findings and relate my experiences to that.

As for only winning clubs, you can only beat whats in front of you hun..  ;)

keep enjoying your birds.

I won a National with a bird gifted to me. + the best birds i ever had cost me £25 each one year i bought 12 the next year i was gifted the same birds and took it from there. to be at the top you DO NOT need to splash the cash

with respect mr parry, I think the sport is full of individual storys of winning and losing but we can only say what we each discover for ourselves, I sir pay alot of money and am happy winning when i do.

each to their own they say.

regards spencer , chasing donkey as it can now run faster than me !!!

spend the money if you want, but sometimes you may just get egg on your face  ;)  might as well give the cash to a charity.  :)  some people are in this just for the cash, good luck to them, but like i say you can't buy a race.

Tournier is quoted as having said, never buy a pigeon from someone unless you trust them, its more satisfying to give a decent pigeon rather than sell one, also of the opinion this sport went into rapid decline when the money merchants came on board

I agree with Rose, best birds in the loft have all been gifted to me over the years. True Friends will always breed you birds from there best, birds that would not normally be for sale. Birds I have spent a lot money on have never matched the others.

But you do need to be lucky enough to have good friends!
