Bluedoo Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Anyone see the The One Show last night (Tuesday). It appears you can now see perergrines at SIX sites across the UK. http://www.bbc.co.uk/theoneshow/article/2008/07/dlo_falcon1.shtml One the plus side (for Irish fanciers anyway), the rspb cannot confirm if there are peregrines in Ireland. Probably means a good few hundred pairs if their their own previous calculations are anything to go by. Or does it mean they are not indigenous like the eagle owl here, and should be removed. So next time your old favourite returns home torn to shreds, if they get home at all, probably not percy, just been flying too close to one o' them environmentally friendly wind turbines.

Bluedoo Posted July 23, 2008 Author Report Posted July 23, 2008 well within 10 miles of where i live, surrounded by mountains there is at least 3 pair if not more, and thats a fact!! Only 3 pair.......................I wish, maybe thats what they want.
Bluedoo Posted July 23, 2008 Author Report Posted July 23, 2008 Looks like the RSPB got people with very bad eyesight or cant count giving them their figures on how many birds there are You try checking ring numbers from the nest and see how bad their eyesight really is!!!
Bluedoo Posted July 23, 2008 Author Report Posted July 23, 2008 "Their cousins, the little egret, was first spotted in Britain about 25 years ago and they slowly began to breed. Today they have become almost common and even breed in London. " Well there's plenty bullsh*t in and around Westminster.....or are they already on their 76 days summer hols.
ch pied Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 the RSPB had a big plublicity stunt in south down on monday , when they released a load of RED KITES , bringing NO's up to 30 , at the off. they say there hasent been KITES here for 200+ year's and are just redressing thing's back to what they were , with this breed and release programe , using stock from WALES
Mr Yorkie Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 I believe Red Kites are scavengers and eat dead rabbits and the like and do not kill themselves. We have large numbers in North Yorkshire and to be fair they have not caused any problems.

We have large numbers in North Yorkshire and to be fair they have not caused any problems. no argument there , on the other hand the RSPB have been releaseing large no's of sparrow hk's & percy's in a clandestine manner , making suer there is an ample food supply close at hand , US MUGS and our bird's
ch pied Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 coudent see enough e-owls , percy dont like them , but they like percy
ch pied Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 could we as concerned bird lover's just have our own CLANDESTINE release programe of eagle owls might even things up a bit , shoot iam dreaming again, lol
