ChrisMaidment08 Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 dont know really but why do they not want someone from our world he retaires nx t year?????
Tony C Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Would have been nice to know that the person to head of our organisation had a passion for the game and it not just being a job.
pjc Posted August 7, 2008 Author Report Posted August 7, 2008 is anybody privy to who applied? Wonder if any pigeon fanciers actualy applied for the job? It maybe fanciers are not appointed incase there becomes a conflict of interest regarding there background within the sport. Phil
ChrisMaidment08 Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 yesthat is possible but then control like anothre assoiation springs to mind i f i was manager there would be no free cars no free hotels min exsences and her in doors would not be writeing in book every week its getting like womans own

frank-123 Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Would have been nice to know that the person to head of our organisation had a passion for the game and it not just being a job. what maybe someone who has fresh idea's and is not bogged down in the internal pigeon politics wish it was the shu maybe has good links in goverment or press that would be very helpful i would say give the guy a chance
Guest chrisss Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 I maybe he will be good at taken orders then ;) ;D how manny rings you want and stuff like that ;D if he is an ex rupert [officer] he will get lost going to the office from the carpark!!!!, on the pigeon side [the most important] lets hope he is good at pr and even better at dealing with the plague ridden, halfwitted, dumpwitted, brain dead, clapped out, tools at defra, and even better with the rspb[who i hope all wake up tomorrow with a 14th century plague pit at the bottom of their gardens]
OLDYELLOW Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 we need someone thats forward thinking i guess if he has no grasp at the sport then how could he possible move our sport forward ?
frank-123 Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 thinks its more a business thing to make sure the rpra is well run cost efficient and fight the corner against the rspb and defra pigeon racing comes second in my scottish outside opinion
pjc Posted August 7, 2008 Author Report Posted August 7, 2008 As I said in the first post, i'm sure we wish him well and time will tell how forward thinking he is. I do hope he is as approachable as Peter as I have always found him to be very approachable at all times unlike his previous! Phil

He had a background of Supervisory Management and was a meaningful candidate. He never recieved the courtesy of an interview.

OLDYELLOW Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 doesnt supprise me novice , its the old boys network , never mind who's best suited for the job it just comes down to 'hes one of the boys' 2 years before retirement so if he screws up he gets well paid and next poor sod that puts his head on the block gets the bullet.
Guest Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 it is like a m8 of mine said on the other forum [would a pigeon fancier be aloud to run the RAF ] .ATB les.
Guest bigda Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 still think the the pigeon game was started by pigeon men, and its not a bad paying job, and it should have been," really" a pigeon man, who should have been appointed who has held high posts in the Rpra or feds, to say to a outsider, he will only follow orders from within and should defra say to him whats what i would like to think he could stand up to them without reporting back to the office all the time for guidance, if you don't think like a doo man, defra will run rickshawed over the top of you peter has had four or five years and his progress was slow some one like billco now thats a army name, he would have been a good recruit to fight the cause ;)
OLDYELLOW Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 surely as members of a union we should have a manager elected by the membership , or are we realy already in a blinded dictatorship
pjc Posted August 7, 2008 Author Report Posted August 7, 2008 What would be wrong in shortlisting candidates with brief experience and publishing them in the BHW for the membership to read and then put it to an openvote? Maybe thats to democratic? Phil

Maybe thats to democratic? Phil Democracy: the control of an organisation by its members, who have a right to participate in decision-making processes Just in case someone from the RPRA should be looking in
Guest spin cycle Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 What would be wrong in shortlisting candidates with brief experience and publishing them in the BHW for the membership to read and then put it to an openvote? Maybe thats to democratic? Phil i think thats the problem with the rpra...lack of 'transparency' in the way things are done/decisions taken. it makes them look like everything is 'an old pals act' when in fact it may not. being a cynic i wonder whether in 2 years time we'll be able to afford a fulltime gm and so they've appointed a competent administrator who'll retire and then we'll be told that the rpra is going to' overhaul' itself to seek a lower cost base. however he has a powerful backer in bilco and i guess we'll have to give him a chance....but he's up against it , i feel, as another non pigeon man may not go down to well
Guest bigda Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 i think the rpra members might have to give the interviewers whoever they are a reality check, as they seem to be too big for there shoes now! and maybe there jobs should be looked at anyway who do they answer to :X :X :X
