Bad Trapper Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 I have mate who lives about 20 miles from me, he has been having a tough time as he wife has been diagnosed with what can be said as a terminal illness. He is working 12 hours shifts as he has to do this to support his wife, and he has some social services support to help him out. He has been unable to train his youngsters because he cannot fit it in. For the last 3 weeks I have been taking his youngsters for a 25 mile toss, as not one of his so called clubmates have not even offered any help to him they even pass his house!!! The woman who helps out even got her husband to take them a few miles to get them started. I have clocked up about 700 miles in the past fortnight training the youngsters and he managed 3rd on Saturday. A really nice couple but they do not even get a phone call from anyone in the club. Words fail me what I think of them.
bewted Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 all his so called clubmates should hang there head in shame,,,,,what a bunch of ar*eholes they are !!! at least he has you as a mate bad trapper,,,well done and i sure hope things improve for both of them one way or another,,,please send him my best wishes !!!!!
pjc Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 This is common in clubs, if he's been winning or isn't in "the click" nobody wants to know! A friend of mine has exactly the same problem and if it wasn't for his wife and family he wouldn't be able to keep the birds at all any longer!
bewted Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 isnt it bad pjc,,,fanciers stick together on big auctions for charity, but, cant help your fellow club members,,,,,,i must be missing the point some where there !!!!!
Roland Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 Mate packed up, I was the only one willing to fetch and train his birds after his heart attack. Yes al promised help and support galore, even on three doors way. All were within a mile. I went 20 miles out me way too. Soon as he packed up they were around like Vultures for his birds etc. They still say what a pity he packed up etc. and how they helped etc. Yes they did help... Helped him to pack up!
Guest peter.j Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 TOGETHER WE STAND OR DIVIDED WE FALL no truer words spoken i think....pete :B
pjc Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 It's a crazy world we live in when we can't help our neighbours! Before I moved here the club had a training trailer and only a couple ever used it, most would rather wave to each other when they pass down the road to and from training! Why? They all think they will do better if they do what they want when they want and might gain an advantage! PHil
Roland Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 Yep Gain Advantage... even let onbe take them, and nip up the road with just their own next day...
Bad Trapper Posted August 26, 2008 Author Report Posted August 26, 2008 Utopia would be being in a club with a some off this site, it would be great if I had you lot for clubmates and pjc was right as he has done well previous years and not being in the 'click' is the other crime he has committed, although I forgot to mention one did stick a note through his door asking will he be racing his Breeder/Buyer at the end of the season...........Nice
micko and jack Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 its a case jealously some people think your birds maybe faster than theirs so they don't want to help (great sportsmanship) but here you get that in all walks of life if your friend had been a member of this site he would have got all the help he needs you are an example of this read the posts of offers of help/birds and I know you never wrote this thread for this WELL DONE MO CHARA (my friend) a true FRIEND (and they are hard to come by) micko
Guest paulrstokes Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 We have a father and son in law in our club, the father is retired, the son in law works 7am to 6pm. Thet live in the same village, and the father will not train the son in laws birds even though he goes every day. "I am not training his birds to beat mine" Crazy

Ronnie Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 Has he actually asked anyone in the club to help?I know people should offer if they know of the problems but some people are scared of stepping on toes and the like. I often hear people moaning at the club about not being able to train the birds ive offered week in and week out to take them but noone takes me up on the offer .It maybe just be a case of people being to scared to offer."I doubt it mind"

swilcox Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Since i moved to Bristol most of our clubmates in the Towers SRFC have become very good friends and i know that they would always be there to help if i asked esp the likes of Nigel Templer, Alan Jones, Les Nichols, Reg & Gary, Colston, Billy and dodgy ron etc, i suppose were lucky in the fact we have a good bunch. Bad Trapper you have every reason to hold your head high, i would let the other members know how you feel tho. Stuart
