ChrisMaidment08 Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Still no birds arrived at europa loft 19. 05 Now getting quite dark. br very surprised to see any home tonight
red1chq3 Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 another point for all you synics, if there was underhandness surly there would have been a bird timed by now, I mean the possiblty of no birds on the day!! its unconceviable.
pjc Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 If they held the birds until tomorrow where the forecast is good then how many people would take a day off and go? Just look at the full page advert in the BHW to see how much money has been spent, let alone, how many people would have gone today for the Auction of the South West race if there wasn't the bonus of the Europa? Money, money, money and sod the birds!
tyson Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 if this had been a fed race the race controler and convoyer would have been sacked i stay about 10 mls as the crow flies from s/queensferry and i have never seen the hills all day the weather has been rain all day and a cold wind i dont think many birds would leave the central belt total disgrace I feel for the poor pigeons..

red1chq3 Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 A good point PJC, but with a whole host of world class flyers in this race, are the orginisers really going to put the birds safty in jepordy, if so then it may well be the end of EUROPA CLASSIC as we know it!! ( nailing there own coffin), I myself can't really see it.

Guest Thunder Birds Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 I have entered birds in the Europa and have done twice before (before anyone asks 22nd in 2003 & 32nd in 2007) and unfortunately it does appear a big mistake has been made today. Up until this last race the birds have been looked after extremely well - to have over 1100 birds in the final race is a great credit to the organisers I for one entered my birds to see how they competed with other flyers on an even keel - true there's a money making element for the organisers and theres always going to be some element of luck as with any race but same feed, same motivation, same treatments, same loft - how else can you test the actual quality of your birds and cancel out all the other variables?! Not only that but in today's age where our sport struggles to compete with other leisure pursuits and the pure fact that many people don't have the time one lofts are a fantastic innovation and if run correctly can only benefit our sport. If anyone has a bird in tonight and it's in good enough condition please let it rest and then continue it's journey tomorrow! - there are lots of people holding out hope for these birds! My main hope is that this race doesn't spoil things for years to come! I won't be responding to any replies to this message but felt I needed to add my opinion!
ChrisMaidment08 Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 youer opinion is appreciated yes i go and see dereck and birds and air my views the birds and setup are fualtless but and thats the trouble they always come up and its because its big money buts but
Guest strapper Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 i bought ten birds from the auction they have back 2 yrs a go,didnt like the way they were handled and put into boxes...like grabbing a load of grapes to fill a bag. my m8s and i didnt think much of their attitude either....smiles can easily be shown when money is a factor! mind u..i loved the lofts. another thing when tony cowan struck the hammer for a sale it was on the cage the bird was in...thought the bird would have been stressed enough without that...im not bothered how others see the actions of them...its wot i saw amd made my opinion based on it.
shotgun tim Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 its terrible letting birds go in this weather they should be banned from running this race.mr nichols is only bothered about 1 thing .....his wallet!!!!
pjc Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Tim , that was so obvious from the TV programme as well!
Guest strapper Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 lets be honest....did anyone think that mr nichols sounded like a nice guy...... or a cocky git? everyone i spoke too said he gave the wrong impression to the general public.
JADE Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 they did something similar 2 or 3 years ago went to aberdeen after the edinburgh race and liberated them on a day you wouldnt let ducks out they were in roofs all over north of scotland dont know if any ever got home. i got one in that time and phoned mobile number about a dozen times on wing stamp but got no answer
shotgun tim Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 iv spoken to him at auctions and i thought cocky git he does nothing for pigeon racing and this proves it.wel all be getting the birds in tomorro
pjc Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 whoever gets birds in can be sure they won't be paying a courier to get them back!
Ian McKay Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 they did something similar 2 or 3 years ago went to aberdeen after the edinburgh race and liberated them on a day you wouldnt let ducks out they were in roofs all over north of scotland dont know if any ever got home. i got one in that time and phoned mobile number about a dozen times on wing stamp but got no answer Not very good when you do not live in Aberdeen and do not know what you are talking about
ChrisMaidment08 Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 trouble is rose its done and nothing can be done for birds pity the fanciers whose birds are still in there names not trans fered
pjc Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 I think even if there were thunderstorms from start to finish the would have been up, just look at the advert in the BHW Rose, they were committed!
tippler1 Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 thay will be alot that wont get reported you should not but money before peoples birds
