Guest Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 karl have these birds bred anything that has won for you this year? if yes i would keep that pair or pairs as you will need to breed for next year. anything that you dont want, i think you could either sell or offer free to a new starter.............................amanda
OLDYELLOW Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 shalis and i have told him to keep them to see if he has any breeders of winners there , then decide there fate after yearling have been flown
jimmy white Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 whats the best thing to do with your stock birds when you have finnished with them give them to someone who will look after them well, and make good use of them, a keen new starter would be ideal.
Roland Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 sell them on if thay are good ones Unlikely that ... else he'd be keeping them unless he's packing up. But then there will be many 'Mates' wanting first shout... Perhaps they have already had what they want!
Roland Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 i started up with them this year i have all the young that i want from them and i will need room for my 09 young birds There Tractor Boy is the reason. So no proven stock.... BUT Will make a great starter pack for another I feel.
Guest karl adams Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 the stock birds i have all have club and fed cards or good pedigrees and come from top flayers and i have raced all the young out of them i only let them have 5 races and then stopped them i took 1 1st prise and was happy with that as this was my first year in the sport
pigeonman007 Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Hi Karl, If you are considering parting with any I may possibly be interested. I would like a few more stock pairs to breed some of my own ybs for racing with next season. Have a couple of pairs at present and some white logans for a bit of fun. Craig
joe61 Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 karl my advice would be race the babies you have for 2 years keep your stock birds dont breed in 09 or 10 see how they go as old birds dont get shot of stock as you dont know if the birds they bred are good or bad give a bird 2 years to show it can be consistent dont rush things oh happy days
