A true icon of our sport etc by my understanding to many people, & his fame spread far & wide. Even down here ;) to the land down under ;D ;D ;D & the first imported pigeon I ever bought etc back in 1994 (only bought 4) was a Rainstorm Verheye & he was a ripper of a cock, for what he bred me. tom corrie Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 they told me they were fair weather pigeons sprint to middle distance they would never do in scotland i have lost count of the number of federation tickets those birds won for us even topped the federation from 500 miles in an north east wind to win the top federation trophy which is the best avarage old bird & young birds they were fantastic birds

Credit where credits due he was a remarkable stocksman and racer , and his decication to his hobby was second to none . I remember in our town in the 80's the Maurice Verheyes, were ripping us apart with their performances and no matter what distance or what the weather, they were so difficult to beat, even with the great Busschaerts. I myself have only one pair of stock birds left here and they will see their time out in peace.

jimmy white Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 allways sad when you here news like that,, maurice verheye , will still be spoken about many ,many years from now, a fantastic racer and breeder of pigeons ,and ive no doubt many a winner, even yet to come, will contain the "maurice verheye" blood lines.... im in no doubt his pigeons will pay tribute to him for many a year to come.

I want to thank anyone that contributed to this thread for their sympathy and condolences. These will be shown to the rest of the family. I am sure it will be very much appreciated.
