I’d love for posters to air their views, either agreeing or disagreeing, for to me, and as far as I am concerned, and aware, this is an helpful aspect of this and any forum.

Controversial? !

Maybe, but surely that may well be what the question is or implied! Further – I feel, that it may be just that, how it is implied, and is it insulting to indeed ask?

I often see fanciers asking for a little more detail on here, and of course other sites too.

Is this being discourteous, or improper, even rude?

Indeed does one feel that this is in order and an opt and proper thing to do?

Are we entitled to know just how good, or honest a fancier is that is selling their bird(s)?

Indeed, is even it relevant?

After all no one makes any one part wit hard to earn cash do they? Especially in the coming months / years I fear.

Are references needed, or a waste of time.

Or does one expect anyone with a good, let alone great history regarding their birds performances NOT to spout out about their’ achievements?

roland i can see what your saying about the onus being on the seller not to rip off the buyer but if for example i put a bird up for £20 being new to the sport or just daft or both for that matter and you new who it had come and what it had bred and done , and for arguments sake it was worth £250 how many buyers would be honest and say your selling it way to cheap,in all things which involve money  wether its £5 or £5000 its crooked both sides of the coin ........pete

Sorry, I must be a politician lol. I am actually asking 'Is it right for any buyer, or interested party, to ask for simple basic facts? Or is this regarded as a bloody cheek!

Especially if the claims are unsustanciated or seem far fetched... especially if made by a so - call name or celeb?

if you don't ask questions how will you get answers?

I.e if you don't know about a particular family of birds you should be asking about best methods to fly them on etc as well as best way to breed and feed etc, without this basic info you are stabbing in the dark!

Also a question that always causes problems is when people as about performances, genuine fanciers are happy to tell buyers how they have done with them where as feather merchants will get all defensive.

If the 'Chief Constable' says I can no longer park outside my own house, is it right that I may question it?

Of Lambast Come again Cameron, or Q. C. says that it is in my interests to always wear an overcoat or Rain Mac, can I ask Why? Remember that there is only one answer to Why.

So why do certain 'Sellers' not answer straight simple basic questions... especially if they  claim tremedous results their birds.

I would have thought that spouting who did what and what not was really in their own interests!

merchants only want to sell anything fanciers selll good birds they can prove have done it

I know many 'Seller's' refrain from racing due to the fact that they may not / can't or couldn't repeat their' performances that made their name. Indeed as **** ****** says' I moved west and wouldn't have done any good and YOU can't sell if not sucessful'.

So I packed up flying. Fair comment wouldn't one think?

I am wondering pjc. I personally was of the opinnion that if you had something to shout about, 'Scream it from the House tops'. - When nowt good. shut up lol.

Further was wondering, perplex even why thay won't, can't answer a simple basic enquiery.

But it does seem that they can 'Shout' about nothing, and get credit for ....... Nothing!

Well if i ask a question of a seller and they get all abusive accusing me of this or that or they go round the house's rather than answer the question or just generally dont satisfy me with the answer i wont buy of them simple as that. And i must admit the trend at the moment seems to favour the seller rather than the buyer.

im just a wee bit confused roly, :), but i think i slightly have the gist in what your saying :)    first of all its the buyer whose going to part with his money,,,,,,,,,so, in doing so, should make sure he is getting value for his cash, i,e asking as many questions as he thinks fit , finding as much information on the seller [that is why members of this forum, putting birds on the for sale post are  now being vetted as gennuine sellers] im quiet sure gennuine sellers would be only too happy to answer any questions regarding their pigeons,,,,,,the bottom line being, if you want to buy,, ask questions and seek as much info, as possible,,,,,,,,,,if you dont want to buy,,,,,, do nowt ;D

Seems about what I'd had thought personally.

But what if he is say a Frank Bristow, A Geof Kirkland or Frank Tasker etc. etc. ... Not undermining these great flyers or decrying them in any way shape or form,  but they fit the scenario of what I am implying. For they are good flyers and  well known flyers - Indeed I suppose also becuase I know both the Franks and can personaly attest to their' genuinebility.

But is it isolant, rude to ask such as these for them place credit in any thing that hey may claim!

Or would a it bit wrong.?

Further, what about when many other posters pop up ... which ALWAYS happens to defend their' reputations and decry one as being a 'Loser' or 'Jealous' and not fit to lick their boots etc. etc. That one should know better and just who the heck are YOU to ask such of  a such!

Indeed does the same principle apply to well attested flyers same as any other?

Indeed is it wrong to ask them to substatiate ant claims they make!!!?

Never wrong to ask people to validate things, Roland. Perhaps it has more to do with "how" they are asked and the tone in which the question is put forth. If I ever became a famous flyer (fat chance, that) and some Johnny-come-lately got in my face demanding this and that -- well, I'd probably tell them to sod off and so would friends. When a person does well and feels "I've finally paid my dues" and someone tries to drag them down all the while claiming, "My motives are pure-- and they should answer to the fancy." Well, you get my drift. Perhaps it is more a matter of common respect being absent than someone's head being so big they can't get through a door.
