Beanz Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Did not race youngsters due to neighbour trouble, had the same problem with the old birds but still won 2 x 1sts and other prizes in 2007 we won 9 x 1sts and 3 x 1sts feds with 12 widowhood cocks youngsters only had 3 races. Paul
schouwman71 Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Only raced 6 widowhood cocks and odd hen every now and again this year, won the 1st race and scored in a few more, all yearlings and they were trained hard, ended up runner up in old bird average so not bad for 6 yearlings, will play them for certain races next year, with youngsters i scored twice i think, won the 2/bird but dropped after 140mls has the darkness birds took over but ive got some crackers for 2009,12 cocks,12 hens.Jonjon you dontneed a lot of pigeons to win ,you need class bud. les

peterpau Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 'appy with mine started with three broken cocks. Clocked 2 from 3 in BICC over the water. One was hawked the week before Palamos sent the other 2 and got 1. Young birds a bit different with a lot of new blood, but had 8 left, sent six to Lamballe and got 4 was 57th BBC
Guest spin cycle Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 i started last season with 28 pairs, bred 20 ybs ( yb racing not for me ) and it looks like i'll start next year with 33 pairs of racers. which i guess is top end of average size...but i'd like to cut down to 24 pairs. i'm only breeding 16 ybs next year. i find it hard to cut down as they did pretty well.
Lennut Tar Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 77 ybs that hardly constitutes a small loft Well now ;D ;D ;D "LMFAO" that somewhat depends, one could say ;) what neck of the woods you just happen to come from etc (This is killing me ;D ;D) I could name a long list of champions ??????????????????????? one could say, that if they had a big team of 70 odd :P their season would be very short, somewhat !!!!!!!!!!. Enjoy.

OLDYELLOW Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 quality counts best 2 seasons i had 12 cocks 6 did all the winning and took the adverages first year and second year just the channel because i didnt send to last yb race but was the same 6 cocks , the law of adverages says your more likely to get a handfull out of 70 + than a couple out of 12 but i'd rather have less birds that are more managable and do what there supposed to do each to there own , ill have 16 cocks for next season most i've ever had , when i get down to 12 then ill be happy
jimmy white Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 maybe a little story,, one member i know very well, had 7 racing obs ,,,,7 racing ybs,, sent 3 to 1 ob national ,,three on result,1,2,3 fed ,,,,,, sent 1 to yb national 1 on result,,3d fed against fanciers sending 10,,,,,20,,,,30 even more,, then jealousy sinks in ,, not good
