I would be grateful if you could give your opinions on entry to a race like this:

SUPER ONE BIRD ONELOFT CHALLENGE.

THIS IS A ONE LOFT RACE WITH A DIFFERENCE. MEMBERS CAN ONLY ENTER ONE BIRD EACH AND THE COMPETITION IS BASED ON A FOUR RACE SERIES WITH A MAXIMUM OF 100 BIRDS COMPETING.

ENTRY IS 100 EURO PER BIRD. 50% OF WHICH GOES TO THE PRIZE FUND AND 50% TOWARDS THE RUNNING AND KEEPING OF THE BIRDS AND RACE. THEN FOR THE FIRST 3 RACES YOU CAN ACTIVATE YOUR BIRD FOR EACH RACE AT A COST OF 25 EURO PER BIRD. THE THE FINAL RACE IS A COMPULSORY ENTRY OF 50 EURO, SO IF YOUR BIRD COMPETES AND IS ACTIVATED IN EVERY RACE THE TOTAL COST WILL BE 225 EURO PER BIRD.

ASSUMING A FULL ENTRY OF 100 BIRDS, THE PRIZE FUND WILL BE 5000 EUROS TO START WITH FROM ENTRY FEES, WHICH WILL BE SPLIT 4 WAYS SO A STARTER PRIZE FUND OF 1250 EURO PER RACE.

AGAIN ASSUMING A FULL ENTRY AND FULL ATIVATION OF ALL THE ENTRIES, THE PRIZE FUND FOR THE FIRST 3 RACES WILL BE 3750 EURO, PAID:

1ST 1,500

2ND 1,000

3RD 500

4TH 250

5TH 200

6TH - 10TH 60 EACH

FOR THE FINAL RACE THE PRIZE FUND WOULD BE 6250 EURO PAID:

1ST 3,000

2ND 1,500

3RD 750

4TH 500

5TH 350

6TH - 10TH 100 EACH

ALL PRIZE MONEY TO BE ADJUSTED PRO-RATA DEPENDING ON ENTRY NUMBERS.

ALTHOUGH A 100% ENTRY AND ACTIVATION IS UNLIKELY, THE FIRST 3 RACES WILL BE UNDER 100 MILES WITH THE FINAL RACE BEING AROUND 150 MILES. ANY BIRDS LOST 6 WEEKS PRIOR TO TRAINING COMMENCING CAN BE REPLACED FOC.

AS YOU SEE WITH ONLY 100 ENTRANTS, PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED ON A 1 IN 10 BASIS, AND OVERALL IT IS POSSIBLE THAT 40% OF THE BIRDS CAN WIN A PRIZE. WHAT OTHER ONE LOFT RACE CAN OFFER THAT?

POOLS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE (TBA) BUT WILL BE SUBJECT TO A 10% ADMIN FEE, AS WITH MOST RACES OF THIS TYPE.

AFTER THE LAST RACE AND AFTER COMPLETION OF A GOOD MOULT ALL BIRDS, THE REMAINING BIRDS WILL BE SOLD VIA AN ONLINE AUCTION, SPLIT 50-50 SUBJECT TO A PEDIGREE AND TRANSFER BEING SUBMITTED BY THE OWNER.

I think the point of this one is that although it is a one loft, with only 100 birds the chance of illness should be greatly reduced, and the chance of winning a prize being greatly increased. The prize money is also divided between 4 races fairly equally where as the normal one lofts seem to be most of the prize money in one race and upto 50% of that being just for first prize.

From what we've seen with the various 1 loft races not just anyone with good ideas and experience pigeon racing can start up a one loft race. Has to be backed up by purpose built lofts, a thorough medication programme including pmv, quarantine facilities for new birds / ill birds, back up from a professional pigeon vet, thoroughly researched training programme, good loft location, reliable ets system, excellent loft management, experienced race controllers, website with regular updates etc etc. If all this were guaranteed then yes would probably consider but being such a small enterprise would entry fees cover all this?

not keen on one loft races, the best i no of i think was up scotland way, fancer bred all the birds from his own stock then people came on an open day chose birds and paid fee, dont no what prize money was ,but at the end of racing had 80% of birds left, i think it was open to the fancers federation.

i'm not much of a fan of one lofters....but if there was one with no prize money, then that would be cheaper to enter and i would be tempted to send a few just to see how they got on. if you want to gamble why not just do the lotto ? if you want to race pigeons then the smallest cost/bird would increase the competition...better racing perhaps. i wonder how much/bird it would cost ?

the 1 thing i like about certain 1 loft races is this....your on a level playing field 2 big money/reputation lofts and can see your birds competing and beating there entries race after race and in many cases see its you not your birds but you who needs to shape up at your own lofts!!!!!!!...fact go check p/chats race series see the results....good idea this 1...

through time like it or not its all that will be left for us to compete against each other with clubs getting smaller and no new starters coming into the sport

would you want someone to race your birds or your

self to race the birds..i know what i would want..

yes your right but say in ten years time with the current crop of doo men which i would say was 60% are to old and not able to race there will be no one to race against , lets face the facts its a dying sport and in the future the one loft races will be the only things left for us to compete in . AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME I THINK THERE ARE TO MANY POPPING UP BUT A THINK ONLY THE BETTER RUN ONES WILL LAST THE TEST OF TIME  :) :) :)
