kev01293 Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 hi i put some mice poison behind my loft in a little tin foil dish (like the takaway ones) and covered the dish up leaving just about about an inch gap at ground level for any vermin to get in i checked it yesterday and found that something had made what looks like a nest in the tin foil dish out of wood shavings/straw/small feathers so i cleaned the dish out and topped it up with fresh poison :-/ when i checked it again tonight it was full again of shavings/straw/feathers which were on top of the poison in the dish :-/ why would mice build a nest on top of poison after i had already destroyed one the day before? can anyone advise as im not too clued up on vermin and would appreciate any help kev
OLDYELLOW Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 save your money fill the dish with a small amount of seed and add antifreeze by by rodents there more likely to eat the seeds

Guest IB Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Just a thought - maybe its something (like a hedgehog) building for hibernation, and not mice? Isn't putting food outside the loft akin to attracting 'them'? And seems plenty bedding lying about for 'them' too. I want them to stay well away, so I have the ultrasonic gizmos fitted inside and my poison traps are inside too. They're the plastic tunnel type, and I've nailed 2 this year, they don't go far after eating it. 2 is still 2 too many tho.
micko and jack Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 please do not use capitals it is classed as shouting thanks but does make it easier for those of us who cant find our reading glasses
DOVEScot Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 watch the cats though last time i killed the neibours cat and she wasnt happy with it i think the cat liked the sweet taste Cover it with an upturned milk or bottle crate this keeps your own pets, pigeons and neighbours pets away from the bait or traps, they never get immune to antifreeze
OLDYELLOW Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 watch the cats though last time i killed the neibours cat and she wasnt happy with it i think the cat liked the sweet taste accident of course must of been the tuna you added or perhaps found the mouse
