Guest Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 BHW is one of the best value for money 'hobbies' weeklies on the market and the advertising certainly doesn't pay the printers bill that's for sure. I worked in print for 45 years
Guest Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 take out the ads = 74pp. Still cheaper at 65p than RP with 64pp at 70p
Guest ben Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Can`t se 55,000 copies being sold,no way, even when colin osmon and The Racing Pigeon was at it`s beligerent best,49,000was tops,i expect BHW,sells at most 30-33 ,000,if that copies per week ,i stopped a few years ago when i noticed how corrupt these so called flagships for the pigeon hobby had become, money certainly is the route of all evil, and sadly is destroying this once wonderful hobby. :'( :'(
Guest Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 I agree money is destroying our great hobby ......... BUT its not just the "flagships" who are responsible. Price of corn, deisel, etc are all BIG factors
Chairman Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Less manufacture, oh yes another item WE have to payout for when they sold off the premises then sold the printing presses that WE bought with OUR money. Now the profits are reduced because they have someone else print it on their presses. Another item to record in the rpra's catalogue of errors which ever way you look at this were being stitched up from every possible angle. The increase in the price of the BHW is unjustified and they want reporting to the consumer watchdog for alleged falsely inflating the price of the newspaper, I shall not be affected as I do'nt subscribe to it, but there must be thousands of you out who are being ripped off! Its a good job this lot aint involved in running an airline company, you can be assured half way through the flight the captain's voice comes on the speaker "the price of your flight has just been increased, those of you prepared to pay remain seated, those who won't or cannot afford to pay see the stewardess at the back of the plane and you'll be fitted with a parachute, we hope you'll enjoy your flight with us".Oh and thats another point the old geezer in seat no 106 did he jump, or was he pushed? they never found him, or was that yet another cover up? ;D
OLDYELLOW Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 The only rise i would agree on is a performance related one ;D well office staff be getting paid rest wont lol
OLDYELLOW Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 they be all dead apart from office staff
Chairman Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Barack Obama told the world yesterday "Change has Come" well its most certainly has because before it comes around to racing next year 2009, change is all we will have left in our pockets, gentlemen and ladies "Time has Come" to vote with your feet its time to leave the sinking ship, women & children first OLD YELLOW you can come with us into the new land NWHU land. Did you know that a ship sinks and goes down to the bottom and lies lifeless upon the seabed, all the rats are drowned with her, so that may well be the cleaning out of the old wood which was reffered to in a previous thread tonight?

Geraint Parry Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 office staff at bhw are not on a great wage. plus i think you might be a bit off with 55,000 copies, also the cost of adverts could be well out, some get discounts you know
