peterpau Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 In the press and fancy generaly at this time of year people are planning race programs! Proppositions have gone forward to the BBC to race with the international from Barcelona. I voted against! Whilst I would like to see as many birds as possible go to the Barcelona international, I realy feel this would be a bad idea as we would be copying another club the BICC and go to the same race. I joined these two clubs as I felt they were both offering an excellent race program and doing a good job. Last year I had the choice of going with either. When the bird flu came about these two clubs made a great job of managing a bad situation. This for me contrasted greatly with NFC and MNFC of which I was a member at the time. The question is why would you want to step on the toes of another club offering the fancy less choice. In some areas we have two or more feds racing near identical programs that must be mad and will surely lead to the demise of our sport.
Guest asha Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 HI Peterpau, all buisness are having to try to find solutions to cash flow problems,BBC are no exception, the simple truth is there are just not enough decent birds in fanciers lofts to compete in these extreme races, the BBC are just trying to find a way through,it`s only on the table asa a 2 year trial lets see what evolves.
Guest IB Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 Agree with asha tho my words are slightly different, no matter what part of the country you live in, there are too many clubs chasing too few pigeons. If they have all to survive, they really need to do different things, for example concentrate on offering only extreme distance racing 700 - 800 miles. If they all offering the same race programme, members will eventually elect for one or two clubs, remaining clubs would find it difficult to survive without (enough) members.
Guest Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 Well I have a slightly different perspective, which will be against the view of the traditionalist. I have been a member of the BBC the last two seasons but have not competed, because of difficulty in getting my birds to basketing and I'm not that far away. But if you're working it's a problem. The BICC problem is magnified with travel distance to marking. I would like to see these organisations amalgamate and the Intenational program raced, with current marking stations kept. It reduces cost and makes us more competitive in Europe and brings the cream of long distance fanciers east and west together, though I appreciate there are many who fly both clubs. I think it is a shame that we are not flying against the continentals as a whole. It gives us then two proper National clubs, with the NFC and an International club.

I have to agree 100% these so called national clubs are as hard to get to location wise and should have more basketing stations , Nfc nearly 200 miles one way that be a 400 mile round trip , midlands national nearest station at Grimsby £5 each way over humber bridge then petrol on top , if these clubs want the membership its there untapped increase basketing stations
Roland Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 About time that all clubs were members of Feds. All Feds members of Algam. All Algamations part of combines, all comebines fly in a decent section, and of course all Sections part of Nationals nigh every week. It is the prestige, deserved merits that most fly for.
peterpau Posted November 9, 2008 Author Report Posted November 9, 2008 Kind of think you guys are missing my point, as what I am saying is why should two clubs go to the same race. Should the BBC go to the international then mine will go with the BICC. Result one less for BBC. These clubs can only exist if they fill a need. I will stick by my decision as for me these two clubs offer the best racing around.
