Guest Posted November 19, 2005 Report Posted November 19, 2005 Which is the better racing VanReet's : Dean Pallet or Tony Mardon or Bert Hession? I think they're very good pigeons for Sprints
Guest Posted November 19, 2005 Report Posted November 19, 2005 Dean Pallets without any shadow of a doubt
Guest Posted November 19, 2005 Report Posted November 19, 2005 1st BERT HESSION THE FRIST TO GET THEM AND HE GOT THE BEST TONY MARDON A VERY NEAR SECEND LAST DEAN PALLET BUT LOUELLA ARE JUST ASGOOD
showman Posted November 19, 2005 Report Posted November 19, 2005 No question about it...............Bert Hession !!
Guest Posted November 19, 2005 Report Posted November 19, 2005 personnally d.pallet...... by a long way
westburylofts Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 No Idear they have all done well with them, and they are all great fanciers in there own right. RAY
Guest ben Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 I do not think it was the birds that did well for d allen and bert when they 1st brought then over from staf,it was what came with them, strict systimatic weekly, fortnightly canker ,coci, restpo tratment, very unusual back then in most british lofts, and as the years rolled on other fanciers copied these dangerous tactics, destroying the constitution of the british racing pigeon for good, shame on those win at all cost types!
andy Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 BEN,UNLESS YOU HAVE PROOF THAT THESE FANCIERS ADMINISTERED FOR AILMENTS THAT YOU STATE THIS COULD BE DESCRIBED AS DEFORMATION OF CHARACTER. I HAVE PIGEONS FROM ALL OF THESE FANCIERS AND THE CONSTITUTION OF THEM ARE AMAZING, PROBABLY MORE SO THAN MANY OTHER IMPORTS THAT ARRIVE ON THESE SHORES. SINCE JOINING MY FED SIX SEASONS AGO I HAVE BEEN FED CHAMPION OR RUNNER UP FED CHAMP EVERY SEASON WITHOUT HAVING TO ADMINISTER TREATMENTS AS YOU STATED, TO THE SAME LINES OF PIGEONS. IM ALSO ONE OF THE FURTHEST FLYING LOFTS IN THE FED.....
Guest Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 HAVE TO AGREE WITH ANDY ON THIS ONE :-/ WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT D.ALLEN.I THINK THEY ARE ALL VERY GOOD WITH PIGEONS.
Guest Silverwings Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 ben agree with andy, see the photograph ( members photos) of my staf van reet cock 87 belg 6723401 he will be 19 years old this summer ? never been vaccinated never seen antibiotics ,and never had a days illness ? has been paired to hens from hession ,mardon and pallat and bred winners with all of them they all seemed as good as one another ! but remember pigeons health is usually down to the individual that keeps them, and hession mardon and pallat are exelent fanciers .
Guest Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 CLOCKMAN DAVE ALLEN AND BERT HESSION BROUGHT THE FIRST VAN REETS IN TO ENGLAND
Guest Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 YES I KNOW THAT HEATHCOTE BUT WHEN SPEIGHT STARTED THIS THREAD D. ALLEN WAS'NT ONE OF THE NAMES.
Silverdale Lofts Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Dave Allen not in the same class as Hession Pallett or Mardon
Guest Silverwings Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 clockman .i beleive my pigeon may have been the first MEALY in the uk in 1987 ,i have heard lots of claims about who had the first van reets ? article in b.h.w 5 oct 1990 page 23 and 24 reads : with bill ward of ward bros Merlin brought the first van reets into britain March 1982 following a visit to robert venus two pencil blue cocks brothers from witte sultan and princess 72 ( Merlin Hudson ) Doncaster ? so when did the other lads get theirs 1984 /5 ?
Guest Silverwings Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 sorry clockman that last post was in reply to heathcote .
Guest Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 SILVERWINGS YOU MAY RIGHT BERT HESSION ADVERT IN SQUILLS IN 1984 ARE DE BAERE BROS NO VAN REETS IN THE HOMING WORLD STUD BOOK 1986 DE BAERE BROS AND SQUILLS 1987 STILL NO REETS
Guest ben Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 bert had a good family of vandies in the 60s scoring very well across the pond as well as inland,,then when de barre bros were "flavour of the month" advertised them until87-88 and the reets after, but his channel performances dissapearred in a cloud of smoke. As for the handling qualities, berts van reets, seemed really deep, wide wedgy at the front, lovely eyes, but not my type, mardons, lovely handling, shallow silky, with beautiful eyes, pallet`s nothing special.
Guest Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 Ben What are you looking for in a Van Reet a show bird or a bird that will win out of turn, ours do and they are the not so special Dean Pallet stock
kaybee Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 i think that the van reets brought over in the 1980s have stood the test of time no matter who brought them over. When the breeding lines are right you end up with stock that breed generations of winners
Guest ben Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 Hi Andy, If that`s the way you test your birds constitution, sending weekly in the fed at those mostly mediocre distances, enough said
Guest Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 which fanciers louella lofts bought vanreets ? any body knows
