Guest dogeon Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 hi i used pronifit smoke bombs today to mainly check the ventalation in the lofts, can anyone tell me how long it should take to clear out of the loft to say that the ventilation is good
OLDYELLOW Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 it can take some time to clear out as the smoke builds up as the smoke bomb burns away , i think the main things is watching the air flow smoke escapes to see if any improvements can be made , when i last did my loft neighbours thought it was on fire lol , once theres no visable smoke leaving the loft re enter , there should be no smoke in the loft , just a nice smell i put my smoke bomb on top of an old cooker grill tray so no damage can be done
Guest dogeon Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 thanks old yellow, that sounds as if its ok then as all the smoke was going out the back of the loft, it took about 10 - 15 mins to clear
OLDYELLOW Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 thats sound about right to me at least the airs flowing in the right dirrection
jack Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 how many times a year would you smoke bom the loft

jack Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 it is ment tobe very good for the birds
Guest dogeon Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 it is ment tobe very good for the birds it clears the creepy crawlys, lice and helps with mucus (wet & dry)
Guest Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 gallie pot for me to and yes it takes a long time to clear but as long as it clears in 15/30 min i think its ok the way it is worked out for houses/rooms/buildings is air changes per hr so 15min is not to bad anymore might be causing drafts i went into it in a big way 2/3 years ago and spent hrs and hrs on one sec to try and get the air right i kept altering things till i got it right and eventualy hapened on it by luck more than anything else iam a plumber and ventilation was allways part of my job for gas etc. i think most fanciers that get it right do so with luck most of the time
Roland Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Never used them... often thought about it though. Mind don't even know where you'd get them never mind how much.

Guest Paulo Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 I used them a few weeks ago really good
OLDYELLOW Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 best to use twice a year i do them in summer when lice mites and tics start emerging , then when they start moulting to get rid of moths
Guest Paulo Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 makes you panic a bit at first though tons and tons of smoke
Roland Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Yes I did take a peekers like. Reasonale price if they are as good as what most would have you believe. Infact have never heard a downside yet. So will just wait till the nieghbours have the sheets out and... Robert's your mother's bother lol.
Guest Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 remember to let the neibours know when you do it i have had the fire brigade at the door not very pleased
Roland Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 I use it around once a quarter, i like the fact you leave the birds in with it as with the other ones (kudos) it is recommended they are removed. Do I take that some bombs state you can leave the birds in, whilst with others it is recommended that the birds are took out :-/
Guest Doade Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Guys I bought these smoke bombs thnking it would kill lice on the pigeons :-/ nope they were still there a few days later

jimmy white Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 gallie pot for me to and yes it takes a long time to clear but as long as it clears in 15/30 min i think its ok the way it is worked out for houses/rooms/buildings is air changes per hr so 15min is not to bad anymore might be causing drafts i went into it in a big way 2/3 years ago and spent hrs and hrs on one sec to try and get the air right i kept altering things till i got it right and eventualy hapened on it by luck more than anything else iam a plumber and ventilation was allways part of my job for gas etc. i think most fanciers that get it right do so with luck most of the time i havent used them b4, but reading this post sounds like good sense ,, two jobs for the price of one as getting the ventilation right is just as important as keeping it free from any insects that might have an effect on the birds ,, but liked the other post ;D ;D "remember and tell the neighbours first ;D ;D" i think it would take a wee bit of explaning to the firemen ;D ;D ;D , but sounds good to me
frank-123 Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 mine are still alive ;D used it twice last year never seen a lice on my birds i have three small lofts i treat the lofts when the birds are at a race my breeding loft is empty just now the loft will be treated before my cocks move back in then the young bird loft will be done before the young birds are moved in there
OLDYELLOW Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 i must admit i bomb mine mainly to keep flying insects away moths and flys , but it's not effective enough on lice
