just ask me Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 try to feed little and often know its hard but this guarantees that the the stock are eating all the grain so the youngers are being fed a whole diet as we all know birds will pick the grains they want also after every feed they will feed the young

Guest shadow Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 just make sure they have no antibiotics added :)
Guest Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 just make sure they have no antibiotics added :) Was wondering about that, but told antibiotics were only in "Starter Crumbs" and "Growers Pellets", but I don't really know, so will take your advice and check first.
Guest IB Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 It's the one time that I do nothing, except make sure they have plenty water, food grit and minerals in front of them all the time. I think that there is far too much going on between the parents and the youngsters - (1) seeding the youngsters immune system, (2) seeding the youngsters 'mouth', 'throat', crop and gut linings with friendly bacteria - so I leave them to get on with it.
TORNADOLOFTS Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 jimmy how long would u continue to give baby milk powder after weaning or do u stop after weaning
Guest slugmonkey Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 I give baby milk but I give it dry on feed I went to a seminar recently and the guy said turn on the lights and give turkey starter crumbles ?? I don't know I thought I would try this
OLDYELLOW Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 i add live natural Yoghurt to water and i feed to the needs of the birds prior to hatching i add calcium to water to ensure good eggs and i also add grit to galley pots to ensure all hens are getting enough calcium
andrecrock Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Has any one else ever used Chicken Layers Pellets? I was thinking of using them myself this year I used chicken layer pellets from start of season right thru the year.It was a 17% proteine one.All my young birds was in top con.The only thing i would say is,the droppings is a bit loose.I still use it and will keep on doing so,the only thing is i add a few peas, beans, barley and small seed as i need it. (This might be wrong, but it works for me) andrecrock
Peckedhen Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Black and red minerals. Top feed up several times a day - every time I top up, they feed their young.
Guest j.bamling Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 we have tried most products over the years inc baby milk powder , gemthepax and so on last year i used nothing apart from grit . a pickstone pot , good corn & a bit of vinegar in the water a couple of times a week and they were some of the best ybs i have reared as some of you who got them would agree i have now come to the conclusion that you dont need all the fancy products and a lot of them are pocket emptyers anyway !!!
Guest Paulo Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Good corn such as breed and wean with plenty of protein in it Gemphanx Vits Grit and pickpots and I find a gallipot of red band a day for the parents seems to help produce decent yb's that fill the hand
