DOVEScot Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 I know it was £20 last year to get our dog micro chipped :-/
Guest pigeon82 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 yeah but if this could be done surely it wud be an idea that if sum1 had the brains uz i know i havent then we wud know where they all disappearing
DOVEScot Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 yeah but if this could be done surely it wud be an idea that if sum1 had the brains uz i know i havent then we wud know where they all disappearing I wish I had it last week :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( I am sure they have something in place or up and coming with ETS rings, although a chip inserted in the bird woud stop anyone from changing the rings or stealing them :-/
Guest pigeon82 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 i might email that retreiva site and put it across to them to see wat they say if they cud do summit like that but wud fanciers be interested in it or am i just being stupid
b.massey Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Think it sounds funny. Just cant imagine us being able to know exactly where are birds are lol. Would be an incredible thing I think. But if in future it came out do you not think it would take some fun away. Anticipation of waiting on race days with the butterflies??

Guest pigeon82 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 i maybe but id still like to know where they go cuz we always end up moaning that they never come back especially some of our gud birds
b.massey Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Well very intresting all the same. Think chip in ring would be good as then if bird been caught by a hawk/falcon the rings in nest might help our case that these things are killing our sport
Guest pigeon82 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 yeah but ne1 cud cut a ring off
b.massey Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Well there is that.. Just amazed how advanced things could become. Google earth and Sat nav's are just incredible things that we have now
Guest pigeon82 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 but then if it was a chip and the birds of prey ate it you wud know wen theyre about to lol
bewted Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 but then if it was a chip and the birds of prey ate it you wud know wen theyre about to lol now thats forward thinking !!! hmmmmm
DOVEScot Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 but then if it was a chip and the birds of prey ate it you wud know wen theyre about to lol Only till it had a crap ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Great thing is all the chips around the nest would not be as easy to find as rings are by the Pro hawk brigade, also would show up in predators crap as well for the anti predator brigade
Guest pigeon82 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 lets just hope we can find sum1 with brains who can design this then lol
Guest slugmonkey Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 COST is going to be the issue they have had a GPS tracking system for birds for years but the chips were 25.00 each and the service would have cost 129.00 a month and for celluar service it would need its own dedicated line
Guest pigeon82 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 yeah but why has noone actually tried it out to see if it can work surely if they can keep an eye on birds of prey then sure it shud be ok to do to our feathered freinds
Roland Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Was possible to track the from the races 15 years ago or more. Two downers were (then) the cost and the size. Both of course improved a lot since... who knows whether it will ever catch on big time... No doubt some will soon, those able to afford etc. Be nice up the pub and seeing 10 minutes expected arrival time... so if one can be arsed, suppose they caould nip back and watch the ET timer do it's job ;D
Guest slugmonkey Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 it would be cool to see the races real time on the computer
