sapper756 Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 whats the best pedigree a a4 sheet of paper or the race basket You can,t fly a piece of paper, basket sorts them out
schyphos Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 The "race basket" is what makes the pedigree. If birds win nationals it makes the parents super breeders.anything they breed after that now has a top pedigree, being brother/sister to a national winner. And birds with multiple wins produce youngsters with a top pedigree. top pedigrees contain either top performance pigeons or top breeders. This does not give any guarantee that the breeders of a national winner will breed another top pigeon,or indeed that a top racer will breed a winner.
Guest asha Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Both can have a part to play, 1) Only thing more important than a pedigree is who wrote it. 2)basket doesn`t lie?, what a crock of s**t,more important is who the basket belongs to. don`t dismiss it,think about it
hotrod Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 A pedigree for selling .A basket for racing

schyphos Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 None of us know someone well enough to guarantee that the person writing the pedigree is being totally honest but this is something we have to live with.(Could always have a DNA test done). If we all felt this way no one would ever buy a y.b from the nest.At least we can buy older pigeons on their performances. I have bought pigeons from all over the world and met some lovely people, but i cannot gaurantee the peds are 100% correct, but i have never doubted any one of them.As far as i know and believe the peds of all my birds are 100% true.
hotrod Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 the best birds you will get is from friends then you know they will have a proper pedigree. you can only take a seller at face value.
schyphos Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 the best birds you will get is from friends then you know they will have a proper pedigree. you can only take a seller at face value. Very true.
weecunny Posted January 3, 2009 Author Report Posted January 3, 2009 agree best birds a gift bird but why do we still pay over the odds for birds with a4 sheets lol

schyphos Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Simple answer to your question is without doubt............The basket.
mark Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 bang on,,,is the pedigree real,, is the management the best, blame the pigeon last , then look in the mirror and ask a few questions very true, easy to blame the birds you buy in.

THE FIFER Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 if buying birds and you are interested in certain strains and want to keep to the breeding then yes pedigrees are handy,
Guest Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 How far has the basket been, have the birds really been tested, are they treated for everything although they may be fine in the first place. This is just my personal opinion.I like them out of the ybn,as yearlings at least 250miles fed prefer 300 miles plus national, two year old 500mls plus. For me that's what the basket is all about.no point talking about baskets if at two they have only been to 180 mls.

But not all will have have that privilege.yearlings prefer them to have inland national, but some will not.My best birds so far have flown ybn as natural pigeons.so at this moment in time, yes i believe the schooling at national level as young birds is preferred, but that's just my opinion mate.
