what would the members think would be the best baskets for young birds,wicker or any other.plus sizes for training.

with due respect, i find these aluminium carrying boxes [with individual, compartments   and are perforated at each end , causes  damage to the birds tails [these, off course, may well not be the ones you mean ]

I found the aluminium crates a shade small and get condensation on the inside very easily, personally would go for the wooden ones :)

I hate the aluminium show/widowhood baskets, they are to short and damage tails.

I meant the geraldy type alloy crates, easy to steam clean and dissinfect, only sweat if to many birds in them otherwise ideal and will last.

That's the one's i would use,I have a twenty bird basket on the floor in the young bird loft ,they get use with it from day one.I usually sit on it when i feed the birds,the tops covered with a piece of 6mm ply.Lindsay

i use same geraldy ones with roof top box great baskets   i put grills in bottom and as you say very clean and hygenic

it depends on what transportation you go with we in glasgow have geraldy transportation , so ask what baskets/crates they race in, then you decide whats best.

In Latvia we mostly are using boxes from waterproof plywood. They are very durable, safe for birds and easy to clean. Sizes and some pictures you can see in my web:
