ALF Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 I think you'll just have to sit tight and see how it does over the next few days.

weecunny Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 put it in a crisp box with just a 3 inch hole in it 2 or three days it be ok the dark helps the strees worth a go
chris h Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 i had a mate who flew a harris on land fill sites the harris flew through the flame and dropped like a stone.when he got to it.It was just sitting on the ground bald as a cute ;D ;D ;D.but it went through the moult and shed its beek now its right as rain
pjc Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 treat it as if it had broken legs, put it in a sock with the toes cut out and suspend it, this way you can put cream on its feet and legs to help stop the skin blistering and keep it comfortable but put the bird where there is plenty of oxygen/fresh air to help it clear its lungs.
blaz Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 if you have any carvol the stuff you put on kids babey pilow when the kids have the cold put we touch in its box will help to open all its air ways
Tenny Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 yeah put it in a crisp box...(not smokey bacon flavour!LOL) keep wounds clean though.
blaz Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 ask if you can put wire mess round chimney so i wont happen again
pjc Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 http://www.loftshop.co.uk/products_type.asp?catID=5&typeID=20
Steve0 Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Pigeons are hard as fook dont worry about it.
the pigeon_milker Posted February 28, 2009 Author Report Posted February 28, 2009 thanks for all ya input it all helps i will let ya all know how its getting on in a few days peckedhen i near manchester
traynor Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 best thing to do is get a glass milk and add about 6 or 7 drops of lavender dip the birds feet this will ease the burn (reason for mixing with milk is because the oil will not mix with water it will just float but it mixes with milk) dip the birds feet and then once dry apply aloe vera gel to the burns. this is the best thing you can do. you can get lavender and the aloe vera gel in holland and barrets and it will cost about a £5
Peckedhen Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 thanks for all ya input it all helps i will let ya all know how its getting on in a few days peckedhen i near manchester OK, thanks. I had the silly idea of making a box and feeding oxygen into it but, on second thoughts, if the bird is in such a bad way its not ever going to be fit again.
joe61 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 put it in a nest box, with a tray about 1 inch deep with water so it can walk through it, change water 6-7 times a day. do not use any cream ask the chemist to recommend something. as for breathing leave it alone. by you giving it this or that will just stress it even more........
Guest Owen Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Aloe Vera is the best treatment for burns in man and beast. Check to see that the lungs are not burnt. If they are, the bird will never fully recover.
jimmy white Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 ask if you can put wire mess round chimney so i wont happen again best thing for a start,, as it will happen again but remembering a pigeons temprature is about 4 degrees higher than ours, it may not feel this as bad as you think, but as you say the breathing would be the worst prob, probably best , just put the bird a cardboard box,, in peace and quiet,[no stress] , let nature do the rest,,
