can anyone tell me, why any fancier in this country would take on a partner from abroad , ie; Holland or any other country?  is it a purely selling reason or does the great British fancier need to ride along on the back of someone bigger within our sport, we have some great British fanciers over here, Tony Mardon, Frank Tasker, Bert Hession, John Crowder, Mr Kirkland, the late great Jim Biss.....  so can anyone tell me why...?

Best of British once said, Great Britain..... lets put the great back in it boys and girls.. I looked in the mirror this morning and was happy to be a MEMBER of this great Country.

yeah strapper, certain people go into partnership with so called top players, but alas they need these players to keep them at the top... but top of what a combine with 400 birds (by default) its laughable, we have as good in this country now.

The reason is simple, all out for an easy ride. If the majority of British fanciers put half the time and effort into their pigeons that continentals do, there would be no need to be jumping on their backs. We have become a nation of buy, buy, buy at all cost, just because it has a Belg, etc ring on it, and 90% of it is continental rubbish, and where does it end up, in the dustbin or in some other mugs loft.

i know of certain guys who use this method of partnering dutch flyers and they not even that good to be honest, they then spout their names and their birds from the roof tops. i do have several foriegn rung breeders in my loft but all ..yes all have bred winners and i dont sell foriegn birds to anyone. i will sell youngsters at fraction of there true value, cheaper than those who originate from. but i think on here especially some spout forign names to much in selling their stock, i mean only a while ago 200 pigeons from a dutch one loft race were offered on here... and those birds were placed 201-400 , so where did the first 200 placed pigeons go.?   well no they offered the rubbish to the british market.

oh happy days, maybe i got a member on my head .. but i love the feel of it  :) ;D ;D

1 thing that does get me going is a certain dutch guy sends birds over year after year and the last sale i was at the quality had hit the bottom and i was bemused seeing them fetching only £40..when a few years ago they were averaging £500......and his birds were then killing the area around manchester...

i agree gangster , its a good man that does that.

Not enough that do though, that's the problem. I think it is also the reason for a lot of losses, too many bad birds being sent, trying to play catch up, and when they get left behind, end up hopelessly lost.

Just had a thought. I wonder how many birds there are in lofts today, that have been transferred after being lost from racing and the owner has given some cock and bull story of how it was bred out of their best stock pair, or was his first bird home last week. So "Mr Gullible" transfers it, races it and hey presto, it ends up in "Mr Suckers" loft, and so the cycle repeats itself. THERE MUST BE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF BIRDS ABOUT LIKE THAT. No one will convince me that they all end up in the dustbin, or the other excuse, Oh the hawks must have had them. Sorry to many birds are lost to ALL be in "Percy's" larder.

Hey Joe, don't make it bad.

Take a sad song and make it better.

Remember to let me into your heart,

Then you can start to make it better.

When you gonna offer to bread an ol' timer, like you, a few young 'uns  ;)
