give it  a year or two with the way the hawks are esculating ,you will have no choice .or lose half you race team training.

our old ones have 1 or 2 tosses before racing starts.  our first race is over a hundred miles, if we had a race of around 50/60 to start maybe we would'nt bother then.

i don't think it would harm old birds if they've been flying well around the house. i'd like to add they would'nt be send hoping to win, we prefer form to come later in the season.

I don't train much but mine get a couple o' chucks at 10 mile before first race of 90 mile

They seem to forget everything over winter - takes a couple of short tosses to get their brains back in gear.

education is everything and fitness is another...how many prem footballers just turn up for the 1st match without training prior to it?

there is a long gap between racing from one season to another and a few short tosses will do more good then harm.

ill give mine a few tosses but warn them about the hawks ;D
