Ive bought alot of pigeons over the years and paid plenty for them. I ve helped almost everybody out in my area with ybs etc.Ill do this the first year, but some expect ybs and help every year.Thats ok , if it is kids wanting help but not grown up folk taking the pis/.Ive donated 100s of ybs to all sorts of sales and my opinion is this- the more you do for folk, the more they want and the less you are appreciated. People want everything for nothing. They want you to work your *expletive removed* off getting the best birds possible and expect you to give all the offspring away for nothing. If I am after a particular bird, then I will pay as much as I can afford for it . Why should I then be made feel bad when selling ybs from these top pigeons. There are too many begging bast.... in this sport, that can afford to put there hand in their pocket.

yes at last the truth saying wht most guys feel but are too afraid to say

I am a firm believer of 'you get what you pay for in this life' some people put alot of work time and effort into their pigeons and som dont, I charge for my youngsters but i would help a novice with advice and how to keep his birds healthy, maybe even take them training for him,, not everything has to be given free like birds... most want a pigeon for nothing or £15. well its down to the individual. i give novices my time which is more important in my eyes.

And guess what ? it costs them nothing.... it FREE !!!

its not wrong for fanciers to sell  off there best stoc/race birds but new starters will usually get taken on by a fancier  and helped in all aspects as Paul says you make a lot of friends and the good ones never forget will always give or swap and do what ever they can to help

cheers Alan

I still maintain the best birds are often free gifted or loaned by friends, a friend of mine brought 2 direct sons of the original Stamvaeter cock, you can imagine what they cost him.

When he packed up racing he gave me the last of his stock, the birds he just didn't want to sell, on paper birds worth thousands.

These have bred winner after winner for me and others but I have never ever considered selling anything from them but have gifted birds from them most years!

Maybe in some people eyes that makes me stupid, but i'd rather be stupid than a money grabber especialy when these were gifted to me! JMO

i dont want to get over involved in this debate as i have already been blasted for it from other quarters  but jock3 a good friend of mine a man who has spent thousands of  pounds on pigeons  and has never to my knowledge ever charged for them a man who goes overboard in every way possible to encourage youngsters to join the sport and older people

takes great interest in the sport and would do anything to help any one in our sport i hold up a candle to you JOCK3 you are a true bonus to our sport
