Guest Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Not keen on early morning, hawks out for breakfast, prefer late evening to teatime, again hawks after their tea... mind the way things are with percy he likes to practice so you ain't safe anytime of day if you're in hawk country!!

Roland Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 good training for the distance I agree 100%.
Guest IB Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 A couple of years ago, started training YBs between 7pm & 8pm; found that they made a bee-line for home. Thought it a good combination, out ranging for an hour or so 6am., training 7pm, and fed in after both. Now that I'm working again, I can't train before leaving for work, so it's now usually an evening shot for me.
The Navigator Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 Wish you'd tell Percy who hits my loft at 6 am in mid summer Totally agree, I was hit well before 06.00hrs last season on a few occasions. I don't think in matters now days, as they are around all the time.
les Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 when i do ,i take them in the evening ,i only give them half hour to get home from a 20 mile toss ,by letting them go nearly on dark ,they soon get used to clearing strait away ,and you will find they dont get hardly any hawk trouble as most are thinking about going to roost or are tired from chasing all day ,but you have to start them shorter untill they know what it is all about ,ATB les.
