Joe90 Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 hi take a look at this website, its for your club to send texts and results http://racingpigeonlive.co.uk
pjc Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 i realy can't see the point of it! Another tool to use for the members who just want to sit at the bar and let everybody else do the work!
Joe90 Posted April 19, 2009 Author Report Posted April 19, 2009 well i thought it was a good tool, saves phoneing everyone up to tell them the birds are liberated, and a national club with loads of members could use it to send a text massage letting people know the birds are up.
pjc Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 you would think its a good idea being your web site thats promoting it but majority of old fanciers in my club don't have mobiles.

Pompey Mick Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 I think it's a great idea for the working fancier, especially self-empoyed lads trying to fit in racing pigeons as well as earning a crust. This week, we were at Kingsdown and getting regular info on the probability of a lib. In the end we liberated at 13.30 , if there was a text messaging service available then anyone trying to fit in a shift at work would have had enough info to enable him to do so. Not every fancier is sat in the bar waiting to be told when to go home, there are plenty out there trying to keep their heads above water and race their birds. I will try and implement it for my Club members who would benefit from this type of communication.

Joe90 Posted April 21, 2009 Author Report Posted April 21, 2009 i was after some thinblesless inserts for T3 where can you buy them
sherlock Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 The fact that we are all here using the Internet shows that we are moving with the times, who would have guessed that ten years ago you would have the choice of at least ten pigeon forums. Ten years ago I never had a mobile and four years ago I was using dial 256kbps Internet. A great tool and good luck I am sure the rest will follow 8)
retired Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 Seems like a good idea in my opinion but pjc has a point in not sure of the ratio in our club but i would say its likely 40% of the membership dont have mobile phones. Another thing from looking is that it costs 10p per text, which is fair enough but on my mobile phone i can basically do the same as the service offered by setting up a group in my phone contact list and then send a multiple message to all members of that group which would take as long to do as the service offered by the website. The post may sound like its knocking the service but i will keep an eye on it as more clubs become involved. Best wishes the idea.
pjc Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 and as you say Chris easy to set up own geoup and prob send msgs free within call bundle.
Joe90 Posted April 22, 2009 Author Report Posted April 22, 2009 what ever way you send a text message its gonna cost you money, even if you think you have free texts you are paying for them trust me. i can offer you free texts if thats what users want but you will have to pay a subscription fee. i pay server hosting costs and a .co.uk web address an i pay for the texts you use so this service has to have a price, but i have made to make things easier and intend to make it grow offering better weather service etc pjc you may not like this service thats your opinion but to keep pulling it down is a little shallow, ringing a number to see if pigeons are liberated or not at 50p a min is long gone and out dated we have to move forward and bring the price for fanciers down
PIGEON_MAN Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 Would sooner speak to the fancier or wife etc.on the phone then I know I.m not going to have someone going crazy at me on a saterday night saying that he naver had any message to say the birds were up.Allways telling people never send me a text message because they will never know if I,ve read it or not.
Joe90 Posted April 22, 2009 Author Report Posted April 22, 2009 and also YOU DONT NEED A MOBILE PHONE TO USE THIS SITE , JUST A PC. SO FOR MEMBERS WHO DONT HAVE ONE AND DONT GET "FREE" BUNDLES THEN THIS WEBSITE IS FOR YOU, all you need is members with mobile phones to recieve the texts
Joe90 Posted April 22, 2009 Author Report Posted April 22, 2009 Would sooner speak to the fancier or wife etc.on the phone then I know I.m not going to have someone going crazy at me on a saterday night saying that he naver had any message to say the birds were up.Allways telling people never send me a text message because they will never know if I,ve read it or not. there is a archive so you can see what your previous massages were and who you sent them to,

PIGEON_MAN Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 there is a archive so you can see what your previous massages were and who you sent them to, How does that prove whether they have read the message or not.

Joe90, i'm not pulling it down as you say but as Tony has also said nobody knows if the message has been received or not.
Joe90 Posted April 22, 2009 Author Report Posted April 22, 2009 so what if someones down the loft when you phone them cant get hold of the etc, i am a retained fire fighter and if i get called out no one will answer my phone, but while im out i have my mobile phone with me, even if i want to nip to the shops or am down the loft, i can get the info with out waiting till i get the phone call sometimes well after the Lib, with this everyone gets the message at the same time
