Guest Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 This brought fond memories back to myself. As some people know i was born with the one hand. For years when i was younger i swam in a lot of disabled swimming galas and i can honestly say the downs syndrome children and adults that i swam against were the most passionate about the gala"s and they were very strong swimmers. They were also the most loving people you could ever wish to meet . Enjoy your little man, i'm sure he will bring you much joy. Julie UK Pigeon Couriers
Guest Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 Hi steve, that passage was lovely, our children touch our hearts no matter whether they come with disabilities or not, they are all special in every single way. Me and my partner would like to say a huge thankyou to the great responses we have had from all of you, we just came across this poem on the net and wanted to share it with you all, so you could enjoy reading it just like we did. Its funny how such small things can have such a huge impact on people, your stories and comments were much appreciated and we wish you all the very best in life, and a lovely xmas and very happy new year. Kylie, stephen, lachlin and kyle x
Delboy Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 Pigeon Princess, I have 4 kids and my youngest is severely autistic. Times are hard at times and sometimes you feel like throwing in the towel but a single smile from the wee fella can make things all seem much better. Cherish your children and enjoy every stage in their lives. As I said before, it is only very special people who can take care of very special kids. Have a cracking Xmas and a prosperous New year. ps. Yer poem was very moving.
chickadee Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 congratulations on the birth of your very special little bundle of joy, in which will grow up to be a bigger bundle of greater joy as you will find out with each passing day, god bless you all.
DOVEScot Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 Every child is special and some are more special than others in their needs and their givings, I have coached DS kids and they are the most loving and also determined when they are put to task as I am sure he will be, I am sure he will fill you with joy and challenges the same as the rest All the best Duncan

Guest lenwadebob Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 I have twin boys as grandchildren born prematurely, weighing 1lb 9ozs and 3lb 14ozs. the smallest was born with many problems, hypaspadia, (born without a penis) hole in the heart, deaf in one ear, and has since had a triple hernia operation at 4 months of age. He has also had 3 major operations now to rebuild his penis, and has been a fighter through it all. What has given me so much inspiration is that he has always had a smile on his face despite all he has gone through. Ignorance is bliss. A smile can mean a thousand words.
