Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 How can we teach our birds to break for home or isnt this possible
b.massey Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Think training them from a place that you think the batches cross over is a good start. I train from a place where you first see pentland hills and believe that training from this point a few times a week helps as when they get to this point they could close there eyes and find home quickly
Guest cloudview Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 alot depends where you situated in the fed if on line of flight no problem , birds just drop out if your well off line then its harder as most birds are like sheep and will keep going , untill the batches break up a bit
Guest Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 the best way ive found is after they are well roaded train with someone from an area a couple of miles from you or more (preferably around the same distance from lib point ) by puting them up in pairs or 4s 1 or 2 from each loft they learn to break from the other lofts birds and will get into the habbit of breaking at a certain point dave
andrecrock Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 We got a mobile antenna(mas)station which is on line of flight, its about 10ml away from me and i train from there, made a big difference on my y/b..
DeDarren Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 G'day Grasshopper, if you haven't got it already, make it your business to get hold of a copy of Ronnie Bigwood's 'Cracked It' volume 1 and digest, then re-digest the information contained within and just when you think you can digest it no more, have another nibble! It is the BEST 'how to' video on the successful training and racing of young pigeons in my own humble opinion. Ronnie Bigwood also formulated 'System X' for the reknowned Spence & Nicholls partnership, he knows his onions alright!
Wiley Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 Ronnie Bigwood also formulated 'System X' for the reknowned Spence & Nicholls partnership, he knows his onions alright! you must know Ronnie well, as not many people know that
Tony C Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 I formulated 'System Z' for Frank Spencer Not a lot of people know that ........... apart from Micheal Caine. ;D
Tony C Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 How can we teach our birds to break for home or isnt this possible Doubling them up and repetition repetition repetition.
DeDarren Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 you must know Ronnie well, as not many people know that Well Ronnie tells you so on 'Cracked It' Ryan, so anybody who has seen it would know The reason I mentioned it was more for the benefit of Grasshopper and anybody who may not have seen it yet.
