Guest Owen Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Welcome to the real world of pigeon racing.

grizzal Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 i agree les, this year we have had 4 strikes already. had only 1 the whole of last year.
Guest cowboy Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 today Hawk killed one scared 12 had 5 back
thomasd Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 bad sh** the people breeding the hawks and letting them in ta the wild to many about only started pigeon racing last year can be stressfull
NW USA Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 I've lost birds to hawks last fall, let them out to loft fly yesterday and had 4 hawks in the area within 5 minutes and had to call them in.
pastabalodis Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Its a pity to lose pigeons, but isn't true that hawks are also the best trainers?
Merlin Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 They have not even started to cause problems yet ,just mark my words ,racing pigeons has taken a turn for the worse as far as the hawks are concernd ,every body has once again sat back during the winter and done sod all to rectify the problem ,so now be prepaird to have one of the worst seasons on record ,mainly down to hawks and falcons ,ATB les. Not all Les,I can fly rollers in my area to day with comparative safety, thanks to your help, and my own ingenuity, but sadly you are 99% right, its called Apathy, and it rules the roost
les Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Its a pity to lose pigeons, but isn't true that hawks are also the best trainers?the hawks will decline one day in very big numbers ,but only when pigeon racing has come to a end ,and there is no more food around ,so they will have to eat each other and it will be in the next ten or twenty years ,i cant see them being any good to help train pigeons because the pigeons do fly hard ,but mostley keep going never to be seen again because of fear .ATB les.
Roland Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 I have to say that Les is realistic. That he has great insight regards the 'Hawk' problem. Like many of us, he must be peeved of with the 'Apathy' in a true sense of this problem regards 'Hawks' by us very pigeon fanciers. You all know my views. Sadly we don't help ours selves, and this apathy is also the reason our plight is so great in real terms. Every second day or so the same cries are heard in this regards. Every day or so the same answers. Every 'Once in a while' good sensible, logical and realism is put forward. Every day or so 99% is ignored!! :-/ :-/ :o
