alec guinness Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Is there any website where the details/results can be followed? no website albear but big gareth or homer49 are the guys to give you any info you require on this most prestigeous of organisations. :) :)
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Albear as Alecguiness has said there are no website for it, will give you a run down of the season so far. 1st SNFC race Newbury were the winner was M McCormick who won 1st west section and finished up 8th open. 2nd SNFC race Eastbourne were Tam Richardson won 1st section 173rd open. 3rd SNFC race Alencon were W Allison won 1st section 4th open 4th SNFC race Ypres were WL Bisland won 1st section 3rd open. 5th SNFC race Andrazel were Jim Hannah won 1st section 4th open. 6th SNFC race Falaise were once again W Allison wins 6th section 77th open. With the positions above it will probably go down as one of the most successful in the clubs history. The gold cup which is the most prestigious of all the clubs great trophies has to be won with the following rules:- Only 4 nominated pigeons per race in the five Longest races with the SNFC and must be within 400ypm vel. The Total distance that W Allison the winner had to complete was just short of 2500 miles over the five races so it is no mean feet to complete the course especially flying into the west of Scotland. hope this helps
Guest Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Yes thanks Gareth. Actually made me think of the possibilities down here in Devon & Cornwall. The Devon & Cornwall Combine this year decided to stop transporting across the Channel, cost etc. The combine adopted the NFC program as its channel program this year, we duplicate from the NFC. Section D this year (our section) has increased birdage I think perhaps partly because of this. It may be a way forward for us down here to form a D&C SC. Perception about location is an interesting thing. Often people think that because we live in the south it is an easy area to fly too compared to the fanciers flying up to Lancs, Yorks etc. However lots don't realise with the prevailing sw wind the birds more often than not especially in late June / July come in over the Isle of Wight or further east, I fly 556 from Tarbes but more often than not my birds will fly at least a 100 mile dog legging back, the Plymouth boys have it tougher and if you fly down to Penzance you can say 200 mile!! Of course with east in the wind we are laughing and that happens in some of the earlier races. But if it's the 500 mile + races our birds probaby always do 600! Congratulations to W Allinson must be a very proud fancier, I know I would be!

Would love to know when conditions are against the pigeons how many miles these pigeons from the long distance races must fly, hopefully in the future there will be GPS with a longer battery life, they have it now but i believe it only lasts for 4 hours. If i can help in anyway with more information please do not hesitate to ask.
alec guinness Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 not bad results and slinky slithero says its over rated. more like underrated, dont know why slinky thinks like that stb, proof certainly in the pudding,as for myself and partner(old jock)we are delighted to be part of the half dozen or so fanciers to complete the GOLD CUP programme which was definately a challenge, already looking forward to next years races. :) :)
slinky slitheroe Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 not bad results and slinky slithero says its over rated. more like underrated, dont you think the open positions could be better?
frank-123 Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 when you see the names on the lsc members list then you soon realize there are some top quality members the lsc members from first to last race are not far from the top of the results in lanarkshire federation or the snfc and into the bargain they have some right good social nights during the winter
Guest Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 dont you think the open positions could be better? Slinky get your application in, would love to see your name (if I find out what it is ) on the result. Let your birds do the talking for you. Gareth thank you very much for the additional information, it's certainly food for thought for Devon & Cornwall area
cowly7 Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Well done to W Allison on winning the LSC GOLD CUP,
