Guest IB Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Mine have been coming back with one or two strangers amongst them, and had one or two stragglers too, so reckon some are still mixing with other batches. Tonight was my 7th trainer and its only 'now' that they are making anything like a straight course for home. Dropped two. Feels awfy slow getting there this year - and my 2nd round haven't even started touring, never mind training. :-/
BANDIT Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 THANKS ALEC GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALSO,GETTING DARK NOW STILL NO MORE BACK HOPEFULLY SOME WILL TURN UP IN THE MORNING.
Ronnie Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Ive found the darkness youngsters are generally fitter(wait for disagreements) than natural they are also more advanced acting like yearling's rather than youngsters could be the natural birds are just not as fit as the darkness birds. Also if a bop go's through them the second round are less prepared to deal with the situation mentally. Hope u get em all in the morning mate
BANDIT Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 RONNIE I AGREE THE DARKNESS YBS ARE FITTER AND ALSO HAD 1 RACE ALLREADY BUT I THOUGHT IF I LIBBED THEM TOGETHER THEY WOULD ARRIVE IN ONE BUNCH.
Ronnie Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 to be hohnest mate i wouldve expected them together if they where mine.I wouldput it down to a hawk going through them the darkness birds have probably experienced this before so dealt with it better. But you will never no for sure
Guest gladdo Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 mmmmmm thats weird alright ...could be any reason ...i sent my first and second round to 50 mile toss today and they all came well enough .... all together ...nobody left behind ,,,, im wondering is it the spot you let them off with ...the hawks maybe diving into them just thought !!! mikey

alec guinness Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 good news bandit, give these youngsters as much time as you can and am sure they will make good. ;) ;)
Guest Owen Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 Having read what you have written, a couple of things come to mind. First, when you talk about "Hawks", what do you mean? Is it Hawks or Falcons? If you are suffering attacks by Falcons there is not much you can do. Most of us in this area let the birds up in small batches to reduce the effects of Falcon attacks. Hawks should not have much effect on birds that are on their way home. They will have a big effect at the home end as the birds land, but you are bound to know about that. The second thing that comes to mind is, that if you have reared your birds in seperate batches they will tend to stay in those batches when they are training and at exercise. If then they clash with another bunch during a training toss, most of that particular batch will be affected but not necessarily the other batches that came from the same loft. I have found that sometimes, youngsters who get into the habit of flying for hours, they will go off with other people's birds as if they were out on an exercise fight, only to find themsevlves out of their depth later. The result is lost and exhausted birds. I like to control mine before things get out of hand. I hope you get your birds back in good shape.
BANDIT Posted July 23, 2009 Author Report Posted July 23, 2009 OWEN JUST GOT ANOTHER 1 BACK MISSING ITS TAIL SO THEY WERE HIT ON THE WAY HOME, ID SAY IT WAS PERCY DOING THE DAMAGE ALLRIGHT NOW MISSING 4
