alec guinness Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 The fed Tom as if there's a race from Thurso or Dublin i will have doos at it if that's what the fed members decide. Believe that a lot of time and effort is wasted by the members of the fed having 2 kelso's 60 miles when the pigeons should be pushed out in distance to give them more education especially when the weather is good. 3 races gone and only at 78 miles. :( think you are totally off the mark gareth, these races are so important to show YOUNGSTERS the ropes,as seen elsewhere there have been plenty of poor races in scotland this year from the 60 mile mark, remember gareth if its not broken. ;)
chrissyboy Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 The first race was a low velcocity that made them think, if birds are fit and healthy and dont clash a jump of this mileage shouldnt be a problem , i will continue to support the majority in the federation AGM.
jonj1978 Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 SENT 100 FROM 2 LOFTS GOT 3 MISSING STILL TIMED IN AT 12.13.02 FROM 112 MILES 1481 YPM .. DONT KNOW HOW WE FAIR BUT WILL FIND OUT TONIGHT,,,LOL.....PS OUR MAISIE BET US THIS WEEK..
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 think you are totally off the mark gareth, these races are so important to show YOUNGSTERS the ropes,as seen elsewhere there have been plenty of poor races in scotland this year from the 60 mile mark, remember gareth if its not broken. ;) Show them the ropes by falling like sheep with the prevailing wind to the the longest flyers in the fed , give the young birds more distance and they will have time to sort themselves out and there's more chance they will break to come in a more direct line of flight to the loft which for me is far more educational than 60 mile racing and pigeons coming from the back of the fed to the front of the fed.
Guest stb Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Fair enough but bear in mind that in 2 weeks time the pigeons will be getting jumped 70 miles to wetherby (160 miles) and what will or could happen as it has in the past is that the pigeons will get a cold head wind and members will be classifying it as a disaster as the pigeons have not been tested more enough at the 120-130 mile stage. And what you are also going to get is members now stopping there young birds from 78 miles because they have had 3 races and breed from them as yearlings as if they are proven stock, which happens generation after generation and in my eyes is part of the bad losses in the pigeon sport. yes gareth with the confidence your birds are getting with the good races just now they will take the jump no problem if you push them all to quick and get a few bad uns then its a different story.
