OLDYELLOW Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 i bet if u read though some threads here u will find a lot easier for a beginner to piece together a book jmo but there is alot of good stuff on this site and a wide spectrum of choices and differences of opinion
jimmy white Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 OK.. what books do u recommend? see thread above adamant ,, some of the mags are more adverts than anything else,, tony c reccomended julios galles [spelt wrong ] but they are a great series of books for bigginner and old hand alike also maybe poss to get some dvd,s from forum members, good luck
little sam Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Get a few books before magazines, You know what your looking for then and less chance of getting ripped off, ATB
DAVIDL Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 when i restarted last year i bought a load of old racing pigeon pictorials off of ebay.....they were fairly cheap and give some great reading......
jimmy_bulger Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 try creation of a strain by wing commander lea reainer good book £8.00 on ebay
Guest Owen Posted May 17, 2009 Report Posted May 17, 2009 I would get some DVDs. But it is best to borrow them from a friend who will tell you which are the best. A lot of DVDs are boring and you need a finger on the fast forward button. The advantage is that you can see things that you will not see in books and mags. You know, the little things. But, at the end of the day, the best way is hands on. If you can find an experienced person to answer your questions for you, as you go along, you will be on the fast track.
Guest Posted May 17, 2009 Report Posted May 17, 2009 Pigeons for everyone by Douglas McClary is one of my favourite books,it covers the basic principles of both racing and showing without getting too complicated, abit of everything.
