actually having thought some more...i'd put the 8 in the other section as ,if the others are roaming, they could drag the new ones away to soon. also it could delay training if you have to wait for these 8 to settle/ roam. JMO though :)

You are over your maximum now. The stocking rate for a building that size is 16. Some will say that with good ventilation you can get more in. I think that there is more to consider than just ventilation issues. If your birds are to win prizes they must be in very good health both mentally and physically. They can do niether in an overcrowded loft.

Sorry

yes, i would have to agree with owen here, , but would it be poss to build an aviary , this would give them more room

, a good racing pigeon  avian vet would advice one half to  a cubic metre per bird, depending on the ventilation

Overcrowded lofts do not race to their true potential. Overcrowding increases fighting, creates restlessness and increases the staleness of the air. Overcrowded lofts have consistently good droppings, although the birds may be healthy. Often healthy nutty droppings return when the numbers are decreased. The best race results occur when the numbers are kept around 25 birds per 6 foot x 6 foot by 6 foot loft.
