You know, and it may well be the case if not 985 of it, that THEY know that the majority of members aren't interested, and certainly would be interested in dipping a hand in a pocket to shell out even a quid. So the question beggars 'Just why should the RPRA and it'd Regional area strife to do, and even raise an interest in any thing that they know the MEMBERS will Boo - Hoo and shout down :-/ :o :o ?

It isn't the committee etc. it is the members.

Just look at some of the replies on here.  :o

Yes! As always we will hear the moans and whinges. Won't hear the patter of feet going to club meetings, let alone Fed or Regional ones. This is not just the RPRA but EVERY other concern that SENDS a ballot paper to EVERY member! Indeed, one only has to look at the times votes are counted on ANY subject and change.... The very vast majority won't even send a vote in for or against, let alone abstain. Mind one hears the moans if unpopular decisions are made that AFFECT them.

Vanlint,

I understand your frustration and anger. I have never found out how to have an open and equal discussion about everyday issues. One of the problems that I have noticed is that a lot of Fanciers would not, or could not, use a Forum like this and get their information second hand. Then they start to put interpretations on what you have said. Of course, the rumour mill then lends a hand until there is a right mess. Believe me when I say "Don Quiote lives".

For some reason, a lot of Fanciers seem to have two main objectives in mind. To conduct the Sport as it ran years ago in such a way as to resist any form of progressive thinking. And to have the Officials behaving as if they have the right to decide what is good for the rest of us. I think it is a mark of our society that the Police think they own the law and decide what, when and how they will do things. Now we have the teachers deciding on how they will treat our children and act as if it is nothing to do with us. The Politicians think they know what is good for us and act as if they have never heard of democracy. The people at the top end of this Sport have, with a few exceptions, learn well from these awful examples and want to carry on in the same way.

You have been doing sterling work of late to try to move people into contributing to a proper and fair discussion. And sure enough the mud slinging starts. Anything to keep things as they are and avoid having to think about sorting out the problems. As a forward thinking individual, you must realise that you will attract personal critism. This is how the Sport has been kept in it's present state of out dated and backward thinking mess that we are in today. The Mud Slingers will keep throwing you unrelated accusations until they have made you think that you have had enough.

Please don't be side tracked, my friend, if this Sport is to drag itself into the present, we need you and plenty of others like you.

Strength to your arm.

I agree with most of Owens' post above.

In a round - a - bout way he cracks the nut sweetl.

IT is those that do as he - and nigh all of us - see every time an issue of debate arises.

THE MEMBERS boo hoo it and expect A. Wealthy knowleagable buisness's give up their time etc. and get their staff to do and them fund it. If it costs a £1 forget it, and never vote / attend meetings / yet are strong and forceful in 'Corridor politic!

As much as the pro's and con still rave about the ET's for example, the RPRA did as they did - rightly or wrongly - take the 'Bull by the Horns' so to speak and implement it! It would never have got in in our life time -I'm 23 near year lol  ;) ;D - And that is where the crux of the matter lyes I believe.

If only 'Openess' was allowed to prevail and members vote for the GOOD of the sport as a whole, and not in own self - often misbegotten - interests, then this sport in the UK would have astounded in leaps and bounds long ago.

Too many time we all hear 'It's alright for them ....(Whatever ............. they would want it'!

have removed off topic posts please keep the thread to topic

I think you will find my comments were not off topic! The original question states about asking members for money and I mearly pointed out the fact the gentleman that asked the question, when asked the same thing, refused to do so!

THE QUESTION Do you think that a private members trust fund should be set up to safe guard the sport and ultimately the members within the fund or do you think that we should propose to clubs, regions and the main committee for them to impose a charge or levy and entrust them to manage it on our behalf?

this was the original question and in my opinion the posts that i took down were off topic

if u disagree please take it up outside of this thread by the proper means so this thread can keep to topic

good thread by the way  ;)

Of course the posts were off topic, as you well know. I asked a question about people’s views on creating a fund to safe guard and promote the sport. I did not ask for money. I asked if it would be better to create a private fund looked after by trustees which could only be accessible by those that paid into it or a compulsory fund imposed on all, a kind of mother knows best. I also gave alternatives because it is good to get some rounded opinions. I have no problem with some one saying ‘I don’t really care as long as I’m alright jack’ because they are being honest and it helps us to get an over all view of whether such a scheme would work. Ets is here now and I am in favour of it but it should have been debated more and not just imposed.

You on the other hand tried to make it personal by presuming to suggest that I would be reluctant to pay into such a fund based on my refusal to make a donation to buy crates that I did not approve of for a trailer that I did not approve of for an un-democratic federation, which I have now resigned from.

We find our self’s with a wonderful debating platform which we have never had before. The forums are great for discussing issues, which affect us all as well as gaining help and tips. Previously this has been confined to the clubhouse or pub but at least there you can see the face of the person who is making an issue personal. Personally I do not think that club politics should be brought on to national forums. Although what I would applaud you for is the controversy that helps to keep this topic alive. The irony of all this is that you have benefited from such a fund on this very site, when they raised the money to buy you a brand new loft.

Mike (VANLINK) you are once again, very Ill informed as this site or any other did in no way contribute to the loft here or any other loft of mine! The loft was purchased by both myself and Linda who attends the club with me so your aware of exactly who she is. Please get your facts correct before ever mentioning me again, as I have passed screen shots of yours from the "Van Reets" thread to a couple of solicitor friends of ours this very evening and they both inform us that when you clearly state "I had taken people in" you are basically and quite publicly accusing me of being a conman which I have proved that I am not and will continue to prove if need be. Now anymore charachter assasination attempts on myself or family made by you will result in legal action that you can be assured.
