hi folks , right here is my question been giving my young birds a few training tosses im up to 14 miles , now wot i want to no is would you still let your young birds have there hours flight at 5pm as ive been doing and then taking em for there toss or would you just basket them up, take them and that's it when there home , as the distance gets a bit further is there any need for the hours flight before hand . thanks alot rye

If your young birds are ranging during thier flight at loft then I always give them half hour round loft then basket them. I think it encourages them to home straight to loft from baskets. My old boy on other hand thinks the longer it takes from tosses the better( as long as he gets them) as they get a better idea of surroundings.

if i was taking them training i would'nt put them out before(not at 5pm),  if all is well they'll go for a fly when they come back. i'd put them out in the morning if they was going training in the evening.  another thing to remember also is, if they're having an hour before going training and a hawk scatter's them, they may not have enough fuel in the tank to get back(are you feeding them before going training?)

i use to work shifts finishing half 1, i use to put them out when i come in from work, for as long as they want, give half their grub then take em about 6 ish.

when they was just starting off if i took them training(always evenings) that would be the only time went out that day, i would'nt go training every day though.
