is it not better to get them used to the basket as in enjoying it for a few hours a day rather than being in it allnight and its good to train early morning but the hawks are up and about hunting  early morning

theyll learn to drink from the basket as they will have to in the transporter...  a good drink i=on the morning of race will make a big difference... thats a fact mate.....  all night in basket  twice a wk is what  i do... just to get the ybs ready for racing

as soon as i wean my ybs into their own section i have the basket in for them, they all huddle togeather in it and you can put a drinker on to learn them what it is and feed in the basket.....they get used to it and are not frightened by it...

my thoughts are basket train asap,, ive heard many fanciers say,, if they want water they will find it,, i dont beleive in these thoughts,[some will do without water for a long time] yb,s deheydrate very quickly, i think its a must they learn to have confidence in the basket and are able to drink freely

I find overnight is easiest done on the Friday night when I get home from OB racemarking. The basket is already out, racers are away and there's plenty time & space to work in. Mine usually get 4/5 overnights when they are fed & watered in basket.

agree with you on that Andy, they need to spend some nights in a basket

the more basket training you can give them the better to help relieve the stress of race day :)

I gave mine a full 48 hours in the basket this year hoping that they would all have taken a drink. The baskets were in their own section.

They were then liberated in my garden.

easiest way 4 u is 2 cut a flap in your loft place your basket external of your loft with water none in loft call them in the basket and feed and water when u then come 2 training and raceing u can basket 100 birds in about 30 seconds and thay will no all 4 corners of a basket/

hope ive explaind this clearly cus its a top tip

i weaned mine straight into a basket on the floor in there section, i kept it in there for 2 weeks. I then used to remove there water half hour before there main  feed, feed them then basket them up with water attached to the baskets and just keep an eye on them after doing this a few times i was  happy they were all drinking whilst in  the basket i found sitting with them and splashing the water around  in the drinkers also helped. This is just how i did it.
