Guest Owen Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 I can not help reflecting on the title of this book. "They Had No Choice". The awful thing is that the men that died in WW1, WW2 and Korea were in the same boat. They had no choice either. As an ex soldier I am very aware that the Politicials make the decisions and the service people have to get on with it. What ever the conditions. There are millions being made out of these conflicts and yet they do not equip the people on the ground they way they should. Bring our boys home from Afganistan I say.
showman Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 Watched the RBL Service on BBC last night...still brings a tear to my eye. Humble & proud at the same time, in fact so many emotions. Waiting for the Service of Rememberance to come on TV again ......the march past, that gets me as well, especially when they play Its' A Long Way To Tipperary..moving stuff !! To all who served, To those who continue to serve , To those wounded and scarred, And to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice..... WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Guest Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 He's a Normandy Veteran and then went to Palestine for two years. He was also an eighteen year old soldier who went in to Bergen Belsen concentration camp to assist the jews, although he doesn't talk about it.
