When and how would you all recommend teaching the birds to home to this loft? Don't want to lose any obviously so please feel free to give advice but preferably from experience. Thanks all !

blackdog Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 hi, are the new lofts in the same garden,if yes i would get them out as soon as, keep them hungry, they know your voice so shouldnt take long to break them

andy13 Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 soak pigeons with warm water and washing up liquid put outside loft take them in before they dry 2or3times should do it when you let out next time soak them and let them dry out and leave them to go into loft on there own and next day let them come out themselves you should not have a problem with them
maverick Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 If loft in same garden get them out as soon as possible i have two lofts one for young birds the other old birds the youngbirds are moved every year with no problem at all the youngbird loft is closed so they only have one loft to go to and they will not go hungry they are soon in

Thanks all ! im sure they will manage to settle to their new loft quite quickly,, once they have been fed a few times in their new loft, let them out, they will soon know where they now get fed ,,in their new loft
blaz Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 im sure they will manage to settle to their new loft quite quickly,, once they have been fed a few times in their new loft, let them out, they will soon know where they now get fed ,,in their new loft let birds have a good view out for about 2 two to 3 weeks. they will know where loft is and food .broke birds start of this year and had a grate season racing them no problem.if any birds go back to their old loft get them back right away.if back on same day put in loft for hour then let out again. make sure any birds going back to old loft get no food or water at old loft.best of luck if stuck ask jimmy the encyclopedia white.i dooo i wold not soak birds or put washing up liquid on them .them that do need some put on their tongue
