Novice Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 DERICK SMITH GREAT AYTON FLEW THE KEMPENEERS BIRDS A LOT OF YEARS AGO Yes Derek Smith definately flew Kempeneers and wrote articles in the Pictorial. The 2 hens from Derek which Brian names were Lolita and Oyster. I don't think they were Kempeneers. Brian at one time also had some deBaeres which flew well but I don't think they left a mark. I had pigeons from him 10 years ago from the Bordeaux cock, Classic Lad, and Blue pau lines including some direct from these pigeons. These were light chequers mainly. The birds he times now are predominantly dark chequers. This originates from the Van hees. His stock loft at that time had a unique feature in that an apple tree grew through it. It would be difficult to find a more genuine couple than Brian and Thelma.
