we are having a sale for help for heroes .i was thinking if i should get some of the money raised put over to this charity from the sale. some of your views on this thanks blaz gary c

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------We have long wanted to follow in the footsteps of the USA’s Wounded Warrior program and supply Hero Grab Bags to everyone who goes through our hospitals in Iraq, Afghanistan and Selly Oak. Servicemen and women, injured on duty, often have to wait for their kit to catch up with them, sometimes it has been destroyed in the incident in which they were hurt. The idea is for each of them to get a present to show how much we appreciate them.

We have now linked up with Troop Aid, an inspirational group of passionate volunteers who are able to supply the bags, they have been doing it quietly for a couple of years but now with our support, we can ensure that we greatly increase the service and give a bag to all our wounded servicemen.

The bags contains everything our boys and girls need to make their lives more comfortable during their stay in hospital and the plan is to provide a simple version in Afghanistan and Iraq or any other war zone and then a more comprehensive bag for the UK. This is a gift from the grateful people of the country who just wish to show support and you are encouraged to sponsor a bag. Each bag contains a variety of goodies as well as a letter from a school child and a note from the bag’s sponsor. Just think how good you would feel if you were a wounded soldier and this enabled you to have a wash and shave, make an extra phone call home, write a letter and read someone’s good wishes for your recovery.... It’s so simple but sends a powerful message.

So, if you would like to sponsor a Hero Grab Bag please click

i have great respect for the yanks out there with/supporting our troops but believe me when they get home they dont get treated the same as our boys they come home as hero,s from their goverment they want for nothing unlike our,s if they are injured they are well  seen too to the point  they build them a suitable house and they dont want for money either so its my view that it should stay with our boys that is what it was started for  JMO

this is not for the yanks it is for our troops. this has been taken from the help for heroes web site. it says at the start (we meaning help for heroes have long wanted to follow in the foot steps of the usa and so on) sorry if you where miss lead

Can see where you're coming from Gary. Could I suggest you wait and see what the final sum is before deciding on anything. If the sale generates a good financial balance, I couldn't see a problem with a donation being made. OMO.

all donations will go to help for heroes. was hoping with a letter asking if  X amount could go to this. to sponsor x amount of bags like these going to our injured service men women. it is £25 per bag to sponsor i was going to put sponsored by pigeonbasics members. it will be on our put in bag the sponsor. that way injured service men or women know that the pigeonbasics members have done a little bit to try and help. more to the point it will also give the injured British man or woman some very much needed necessities

why not help blaz & gary not that i'am knocking there idea, could the members

not come up with some idea's, how the monies could be best spent, not an easy

thing to do.as the amount of money raised from our sale won't be life changing

for them or their family's. just something to show that joe public  care.

Personally I am happy for the money to be divided, but my only concern is that people donated their LOTS to a specific cause "Help for Heroes", and it would need the full blessing from ALL who have donated to change the cause, to avoid any problems. JMHO

if you wanted to help the other charity why not have a separate auction later on in the year , like a late bred auction you could get birds off all the big national winners of this year and make it the biggest auction ever like you have with this one

Posted

this is not a separate charity.if you go on to help for heroes web site .look at what we do then look at troop aid .it is something that help for heroes wants to do. all money will be given to help for heroes .then they can decide where it goes
