aye ready Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 me personally i would let the 2 pairs sit 10 days then slip the good eggs under the foster pair and let your good pair go back down on their next set of eggs
Guest Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 In my racing loft i have a good pair that have laid on the 26th dec filled i also have another pair laid on the same day 26th dec but eggs r clear is it ok to slip the eggs from the good pair and take another round off them yes , but i would put pot eggs under them , if shes a good stock hen you dont want her trying to lay again too soon . andy.
Guest bigbok Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 well it depends on the sitters i like them to be on the day coz my birds tend to need a day extra to get out of the eggs but in this weather they may sit a little longer leave the pair you want the eggs taken from on pot eggs in case you need to move em back and do date the eggs so you can move em again sometimes i have moved eggs under a few pairs to get them one time chicks as well

Guest IB Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 I didn't see the thread go up, but would like to add from my own experience, I slip eggs a lot, as I usually single rear. Few days either way isn't a problem. Its sitting eggs that causes milk to form, so they'll always have it, you have no problem with that. Problems might occur when eggs are due to hatch after the foster pair's. You need to know your pigeons and know how long that pair will sit overdue. I've had mine rise 1 bleeding day before the youngster was due out, I could hear it chipping away, so watch that one. The other is the breeding pair. Don't take eggs away until sitting 10 days. If hen goes down any earlier than that, you risk damage to the 'egg works' it could end out in the nest with the egg. I've never had that, I took heed of Derick Norden's warning that this happened to him, said so on SNFC video the year he was 1st & 2nd Reims.
